摘要： Ceramic electrical resistors having a coherent, non-porous structure, high dielectric constants, high power factors and medium to low resistivities consist of a fired mixture containing, as major ingredients, titanium oxide and one or more of the oxides of chromium, vanadium, or copper, with or without iron oxide, the molal proportion of titanium oxide to the other oxides being not more than 20 : 1. The final mass may contain single or double titanates, or one or more titanates mixed with titanium oxide. When two or more oxides in addition to titanium oxide are present, the composition is preferably formed from preformed titanates. Firing-temperatures are dependent on the compositions and the desired properties. By varying the proportions, bodies of differing characteristics can be obtained, e.g., bodies of low resistivity may be used as volume controls for radio circuits, safety valves for high-frequency circuits, dry rectifiers, or photosensitive devices; for resistors for electric furnaces; in assemblies requiring semiconducting surfaces to eliminate static interference etc.; or, due to a variation in the resistance of some compositions in proximity to the human body, as burglar and like alarms. 摘要： A composition for forming refractory structures, by slip casting, comprises finely-divided zircon, 0.002-0.5 per cent of a water-dispersible colloid, and 0.002-0.5 per cent. of an alkali having a dissociation constant of at least 1 x 10-5. The zircon is preferably of such a size as to pass 325 mesh, but a mixture of fine and coarser material may be employed. The alkali may be a hydroxide of an alkali metal or ammonium, simple or substituted primary, secondary, or tertiary amines, substituted amines of the "onium" or "oxonium" type, or heterocyclic compounds such as piperidine. As the colloid may be used starches such as corn, root, potato, or like starch, dextrin, albumin, serum albumen, blood serum, soluble dried blood, tannins, tannic acid, gelatine, glue, agar-agar, alginic acid, kelp extracts, humus and compost extracts, extracts of decayed leaves, gums such as acacia and tragacanth, pectins, glycogens, or proteins such as casein, soya bean proteins, or the proteins of wheat, corn, maize, collagen or bouillon.
