    • The invention is directed to a foldable, portable workbench having a work table and a support structure for supporting the work table. The support structure includes a pair of mutually spaced leg assemblies and each of these leg assemblies, in turn, includes a pair of legs pivotally connected at one end thereof to the work table. Articulated linkages pivotally interconnect, respectively, the two legs of each pair of legs to each other and at least one of the legs to the work table. The articulating linkages are connected so that the work table and leg structures are stacked in juxtaposition to each other when the workbench is in its folded position and, so that the other ends of the leg structures are spread apart from each other with the work table substantially transverse to the leg structures when the workbench is in the erected position.

    • The invention is directed to a clamp for holding a workpiece to a work surface having an aperture formed therein. The clamp includes the main support arm having one end portion adapted for insertion into the aperture in the work surface. A clamping arm is pivotally connected to the main support arm above the above-mentioned end portion and the clamping arm defines a clamping surface for engaging the workpiece placed on the work surface. A first lever arm is pivotally connected to the main support arm and a second lever arm has one end pivotally connected to the first lever arm and another end pivotally connected to the clamping arm. Suitable structure is provided for applying a force to the pivot mutually connecting the first and second lever arms to cause the lever arms to transmit the respective forces to the main support arm and the clamping arm causing, in turn, the main support and the clamping arm to rotate with respect to each other so that the main support arm tightly engages the wall defining the aperture in the work surface and so that the clamping arm tightly engages the workpiece. The clamp also can be adapted to hold a workpiece to a workbench having no aperture therein. A clamping arrangement includes a member defining a work surface and having at least one aperture formed therein and the clamp. The clamp and member tightly hold the workpiece.

    • A portable power tool or appliance, such as a cordless grass shear, may be slidably received within a unitary stirrup. A flexible flap on the stirrup carries a detent button that is automatically snapped into a screw-hole on the clam-shell power tool housing, as the power tool is fully seated within the stirrup. The flap may be flexed manually to release the detent button, thereby facilitating quick disengagement between the power tool and the stirrup. The stirrup carries ground-engaging wheels to facilitate manual movement and guidance of the power tool during its stand-up operation. An extension handle in the form of a tubular wand is secured to the stirrup and extends upwardly therefrom. A top handle with a switch is provided on the end of the wand. An electrical cable is connected to the switch, extends downwardly therefrom within the wand, and exits from the stirrup above the power tool. The end of the cable carries a plug adapted to be received within a receptacle on the power tool. The receptacle has spaced contacts formed as a continuation of the contacts of the tool switch. This provides a parallel connection, bypassing the tool switch and, at relatively low cost, facilitating manual control by the switch on the top handle.
