    • The device, especially a coffee machine, comprises three boilers (1, 2, 3) for heating water. At the same time, it is ensured that the coffee machine can draw no more heating power than is available. This variable heating power allocation to the individual boilers thus makes it possible to dispense a large number of beverages even if the maximum available power is insufficient to supply all the heating elements at the same time. The heating power is allocated in the device of the invention depending on the power supply and the power requirement of the individual boilers.

    • An infusion device for a coffee machine has an infusion cylinder (1) with a cylindrical chamber (2) and two pistons (3, 4). The infusion cylinder (2) and the pistons (3, 4) are arranged so as to be movable with respect to one another. In an infusion position, the infusion cylinder (1) and the two pistons (3, 4) inside it form an infusion chamber (5) for the purpose of infusing ground coffee within it by the introduction of water under pressure. The latter is taken to the infusion chamber (5) via a connecting nipple (18) and a through drilling extending through the wall of the infusion cylinder (1) into a circular slot (14) formed between a sealing ring (11) and the surface (13) of the second piston (4) facing the infusion chamber (5). The coffee is discharged through a filter (32), a pipe (34) and a further connecting nipple (35). The arrangement of the slot (14) makes it possible to make the face (13) of the second piston (4) without a filter. The supply of water under pressure to the slot (14) produces a self-cleaning action therein. Because the face (13) of the second piston (4) has no filter, not only is one wearing part eliminated but also the infusion device can be made more economically.

    • The ejecting device comprises an ejector (17) which is pivotably secured to an infusion cylinder (9) arranged to move along a parallel drive spindle (6) and a lug (22) arranged towards the bottom of a side-member (2) of a frame (1). A second piston (8) arranged to move in the infusion cylinder (9) can be moved to the upper end of said infusion cylinder (9) as the latter moves downwards. A compressed block of ground coffee (40) is forced out of the infusion cylinder (9) during the movement. It lies on the convex surface (42) of the second piston (8). The ejector (17) comprises two pivoted levers (18, 19) extending along the infusion cylinder (9) and beside it. In the lower region of the infusion cylinder (9) they are pivotable about an axis (23). The ends of the pivoting levers (18, 19) away from the axis are connected to an ejector plate (20). One of the pivoting levers has an L-shaped extension (21). This co-operates with the lug (22) as an actuator to cause the ejector (17) to pivot outwards. Because both one end (41) of the infusion cylinder (9) and the surface (42) of the second piston (8) are convex and mutually matched in such a way that a sliding surface (50) of the ejection plate (20) passes across the surfaces (41, 42) virtually without any gaps when the ejector pivots, the compressed block can be stripped off without any significant quantity of grounds' being left behind.

    • A coffee machine is contained in a housing (1). Contained in this housing (1) are a fresh water container (2), a coffee-grounds container (3), a residual water container (4), a grinder (5) and control and heating members collected under (6) for heating and supplying the fresh water from the fresh water container to a brewing device (8) secured to another housing (19) by spring clips (41) that snap into notches (42). The second housing contains a driving moter (15) and a gear (18) with a driving axle (20) that extends through the wall of the second housing (19) and establishes a functional connection with the brewing device (8), projecting into a driving spindle of the latter. The brewing device (8) forms a first partial module, the second housing (19) forms with the driving motor (15), the gear (18) and the driving axle (20) a second partial module (17) of a first module (16) that can be drawn out of the percolator. In the illustrated drawn-out state, the operation ability of the brewing device (8), which includes all parts of the percolator that may be dirtied by coffee powder or coffee, can be checked. The infusion cylinder is moved upwards or downwards by rotating the drive spindle (6) in one direction of the other. The ground coffee is introduced into the infusion cylinder via a pivoting hopper (12). In order to determine the quantity of ground coffee introduced, the infusion cylinder is moved upwards during a controlled time at least until a force exerted above the compressed ground coffee by the upper piston (7) is equal to the drive force of the spindle. To permit the preferred loose infusion of the ground coffee, the infusion chamber formed between the two pistons (7, 8) is further enlarged slightly before the actual infusion process. Via a strainer (32), a conduit (34), and a further connection fitting (35), the coffee is discharged. Through the arrangement of the gap (14), the face (13) of the second piston ( 4) can be made without a strainer. The feeding of pressurized water to the gap (14) causes a self-cleaning effect in the latter. Through the strainer-less design of the end face (13) of the second piston (4), not only can a wearing part be eliminated, but a more cost-effective manufacture of the brewing apparatus can also be carried out.

    • An ejection device includes an ejection part (17) which is swivelingly fastened to a brewing cylinder (9) displaceably disposed along a parallel driving spindle (6), and a nose (22) disposed on a sidewall (2) of a frame (1). Mounted within and closing a cylindrical bore of the brewing cylinder are first and second pistons. The second piston (8) is, upon a downwardly movement of the brewing cylinder (9) away from the first piston, displaceable to a first or upper end of the brewing cylinder. Ground coffee (40) pressed into a cake is conveyed out of the brewing cylinder (9) during this displacement movement and rests upon a cambered end face (42) of the second piston (8). The ejection part (17) includes two rocking levers (18, 19) which extend at the sides of the brewing cylinder (9) longitudinally thereto and are swivelingly mounted in a lower region of the brewing cylinder (9) about a swivel axis (23). Ends of the rocking levers (18, 19) remote from the swivel axis are connected to an ejection plate (20). One of the rocking levers has an L-shaped extension (21) which co-operates with the nose (22) as an actuating means for swinging out the ejection part (17). Because both the first or upper end (41) of the brewing cylinder (9) and the end face (42) of the second piston (8) are curved and adapted to one another in such a way that a sliding surface (50) of the ejection plate (20) sweeps the faces (41, 42) practically completely upon the swinging-out of the ejection part (17), the cake is stripped without leaving behind any substantial ground coffee residue.
