摘要： A paint roller assembly is disclosed as including a handle (12) that is configured for use with a variety of extension poles (60, 78, 92), each pole (60, 78, 92) requiring a different type of connection with the handle (12). The handle (12) includes a pole connector socket (38) extending inwardly from one end thereof that is designed to receive a number of different pole connectors (60, 78, 92). The socket (38) is provided with a tapered wall section (40b) and a circumferential groove (46). The tapered wall (40b) is configured to provide a press fit attachment between the handle (12) and connector (16, 82, 96). The groove (46) is configured to provide a snap fit attachment between the handle (12) and the connector (16, 82, 96). The handle (12) is particularly designed to be alternatively attached to a pole connector (82) for use with a standard externally threaded pole (78), a unique connector (16) configured specifically for use with a pole (60) having a unique push-button locking mechanism (68), and a tapered connector (96) used with extension poles (92) predominantly in Europe; although various other connectors adapted for press or snap fit attachment with the handle (12) may be used.

摘要： An extension pole is disclosed for use with a paint roller tool. The pole and handle cooperatively provide a smooth flush connection and prevent relative rotation therebetween. In particular, an end portion of the extension pole comprises a locking mechanism that is designed to releasably interconnect the paint roller tool and the extension pole via operation of a button assembly on the extension pole. The locking mechanism includes a housing presenting a narrow outer surface defined along a circle coaxial with the pole and snugly received within the paint roller handle. A wide outer surface spaced radially outward from the narrow surface presents a key section, which when received within a recess extending inwardly from the rear end of the tool handle, cooperates with the handle to prevent relative rotation between the tool and extension pole. Additionally, the wide surface of the extension pole, as well as the key section thereof, are designed to be flush with the gripping surface of the tool handle, thereby creating a connection that is comfortable to the user and aesthetically appealing.

摘要： An edger (10) constructed in accordance with a preferred embodiment of the present invention and configured for applying paint to a paintable surface abutting non-paintable bordering surfaces is disclosed. The edger (10) broadly includ es a head assembly (12) and a handle assembly (14) couplable to the head assembly (12) . The head assembly (12) broadly includes a base (16), an applicator (18) coupled to the base (16), and an edging guide subassembly (20) supported by the base (16). The edger guide subassembly (20) includes a plurality of rotatable guide wheels (64, 66 and 68) configured to engage bordering surfaces (C) and (A) to maintain an applicator pad (50) at a uniform spacing from the surfaces (C,A) when applying paint to a wall (W). The edging guide (20) enables the edger (10) to provide smooth, continuous and uniform lines of demarcation along joints (J A J C) without undesirably applying paint to the bordering surfaces (A,C). Furthermore, the improved edging guide (20) enables the edger (10) to apply paint along convergent, multidirectional joints (J A J C ) by changing the leading edge of the applicator (18) without having to repositio n the edger (10) during the continuous application.
