    • In order to limit damages in the event of a fire, the parts of an installation through which combustible gasses or liquids flow are equipped with automatically closing shut-off devices. The closing devices of such shut-off devices are essentially characterised in that they are held in the open position by an element that inhibits the closing force.     • The ball-valve comprises a casing (1) with two coaxial stub pipes (4, 5) in which is fitted in a floating manner a ball (2) which can be made to rotate via a control shaft.     • In order to limit damage when pressure exceeds or falls below a certain permissible level, ducts carrying gas or liquid are provided with automatically closing shut-off fittings. These fittings are kept in the open position by elements which counteract the closing force. The hollow body has at least one relief device (9) to which the operating pressure is applied. If the pressure exceeds or falls below the permissible value, the closure sequence is triggered: the relief device (9) opens, the pressure at that location falls and the closing force becomes effective and closes the shut-off fitting (1). A closure device of this type can be combined with various types of usual commercial shut-off fittings (1).
