摘要： In one aspect, a bone plate system that includes a bone plate having a plurality of elongated through openings. The bone plate system includes a plurality of bone screws and a plurality of sliders in the elongated through openings of the bone plate that receive the bone screws. The bone plate system includes at least one resilient member for being configured to apply a biasing force to each of the sliders to urge the slider toward one end portion of a respective through opening. Further, the bone plate system includes at least one actuator having an interference position in which the actuator inhibits shifting of the sliders toward the one end portion of the through opening and a clearance position in which the actuator permits the at least one resilient member to urge the sliders and the bone screws received therein toward the one end portion of the through openings.

Moreover, the present exemplary tulip assembly also includes a cap having a generally planar top and at least one locking member extending from the top. Wherein the at least one locking member is configured to compress the flexible protrusions to securely lock the rod within the tulip assembly.

摘要： A bone plate system for securing a plurality of bones is provided including a plate member, a locking device of the bone plate, and a surgical cable having a trailing end for being connected to the bone plate and a leading end for being advanced around the bones and into the locking device. The surgical cable may be tensioned to approximate the bones, urge the bones together, and seat the bone plate against the bones. The locking device may be reconfigured to a locked configuration to fix the bone plate to the surgical cable. The bone plate further includes a plurality of throughbores for receiving bone anchors that rigidly fix the bone plate to the bones. The bone plate system utilizes the tensile strength of the surgical cable and the rigid fixation between the bone anchors and the bone plate to resist relative movement of the bones.

摘要： A method and apparatus make a size measurement within an intervertebral space by placing an expandable and contractable device into the intervertebral space, expanding the device, measuring a size characteristic of the space, contracting the device and then removing it. Preferably, a holder is held by a physician with an obround-shaped device being inserted into the space and then turned by a steering mechanism prior to the device expansion. The device is small enough to be passed through an incision in the disc annulus prior to turning and after contraction. The measurement may be accomplished by an external x-ray or other imaging device imaging the expanded device in situ or by mechanically operated devices. An expansion and contraction mechanism such as fluid containing bladder or mechanically shifted members expands the device which later contracts in a controlled manner to the contracted size.

摘要： In one aspect, a bone plate system is provided that includes a bone plate body having a throughbore and a bone screw. The bone plate system includes a slider slidably connected to the bone plate body to slide between a clearance position wherein the slider permits a bone screw head portion to be advanced into the throughbore and seated against the bone plate body and an interference position wherein the slider inhibits bone screw back out from the throughbore. The bone plate system includes a resilient pin and the slider has a surface configured to deflect the resilient pin as the bone screw head portion shifts the slider from the interference position toward the clearance position. The deflected resilient pin urges the slider from the clearance position toward the interference position upon the bone anchor head portion seating against the bone plate body in the throughbore.
