    • PURPOSE: To prevent the possibility for hands and legs to be injured by being caught in a holdfast beam, by detecting distance of the holdfast beam to an article when the holdfast beam descends, and reducing the pressing force of the holdfast beam when a predetermined distance is detected in a cutting machine where the holdfast beam is placed on a plate-shaped article to cut the article. CONSTITUTION: In a Guillotine cutter where a holdfast beam 8 ascends and descends in interlocking with the ascending and discending motion of a cutting blade 7 supported by a gate-shaped frame 9, and an article 1 such as the stack of paper and cardboard is cut in a state that it is pressed by this holdfast beam 8 from its upper part, a photoelectric device-type sensor 14 having a light source and a photoelectric cell is mounted under an effective surface 8a of the holdfast beam 8 contacted with the article 1 within a range of both opposite end surfaces of the holdfast beam 8. A hydraulic device of the holdfast beam 8 is controlled to reduce the pressure force of the holdfast beam 8 when a distance between the holdfast beam 8 and the article 1 becomes a predetermined value (10-20 mm), the light source is interrupted, and the sensor 14 is started when the holdfast beam 8 is contacted with the article 1 and descends to press the article.

    • PURPOSE: To ensure a complete automatic operation for all work carried in a feeding region where products to be cut are received by providing a gripper rotating the product to be cut in a plane on a table surface in the feeding region. CONSTITUTION: A narrow width edge 25a of a product to be cut 25 is positioned in a cutting plane 27, and a lengthwise edge 25b is made to abut on a side scale 23. A forward feeding saddle 13 is moved to a rearward end, a piston rod 24a for lifting is elongated, and the product is held by a gripper jaw 22a. After a gripper jaw 22b is lowered on the product 25 and a gripper long 22 is closed, the piston rod 243 is retreated, and the product 25 is positioned symmetrically with respect to a symmetrical plane of a table. Then, a retaining mechanism with a bolt 6 is released and a support 15 is turned 90 deg. to make the product abut on a table side edge 12d for positioning the product 25'. Thereafter, the gripper long 22 is moved from the product 25', the support 15 is returned to its original position, and the product 25' is made to advance below a cutting blade 2.

    • PURPOSE: To optimize the unproductive motion time of holdfast beam after cutting, by detecting distance of a holdfast beam to an article when the holdfast beam descends onto a plate-shaped article to cut the same, and then ascends after the cutting, and stopping the ascending of the holdfast beam when a predetermined distance is detected. CONSTITUTION: In a Guillotine cutter where a holdfast beam 8 ascends and descends in interlocking with the ascending and descending motion of a cutting blade 7 supported by a gate-shaped frame 9, and an articles 1 such as the stack of paper and cardboard is cut in a state that the article 1 is pressed by this holdfast beam 8, a photoelectric device-type sensor 14 comprising a light source and a photoelectric cell is mounted under an effective surface 8a of the holdfast beam 8 contacted with the article 1 within a range of opposite end surfaces of the holdfast beam 8. The ascending motion of the holdfast beam 8 is controlled to be immediately terminated through an electric circuit when the holdfast beam 8 ascends after the article 1 is cut, and the sensor 14 stops its motion, from a condition that the light source is interrupted when the holdfast beam 8 is contacted with the articles 1 to press the same, and the sensor 14 is started.

    • PURPOSE: To shorten a cutting process by descending a holdfast beam onto a plate- shaped article for the cutting, and sucessively lifting a cutting blade and the holdfast beam after the cutting in a state that the holdfast beam is lifted by a predetermined distance after the cutting blade has been lifted by a predetermined distance. CONSTITUTION: In a guillotine cutting machine where a holdfast beam 8 ascends and descends in interlocking with the ascending and descending motion of a cutting blade 7 supported by a gate-shaped frame for cutting an article 1 such as the stack of paper, cardboard and the like by the cutting blade 7 in a state that the article 1 is pressed by the holdfast beam 8 from its upper part, a photoelectric device-type sensor 14 is mounted within a range of opposite both end surfaces of the holdfast beam 8 under an effective surface 8a of the holdfast beam 8 contacted with the article 1, and a proximity switch 25 operating when an edge 7a of the cutting blade 7 takes a predetermined gap Z' to the effective surface 8a, is mounted on a surface at the cutting blade 7 side, of the holdfast beam 8. After the cutting, the cutting blade 7 is lifted to a position for operating the proximity switch 25 is operated, and then the holdfast beam 8 is lifted to a position for operating the sensor 14.
