    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a screw type vacuum pump having a cooling medium circuit in which an effective cooling operation can be carried out and a pump can be simply, compactly and inexpensively manufactured.SOLUTION: Inlet side end parts of shafts 7 and 8 are connected to pressure side end parts of rotors 3 and 4. In the hollow chamber 31 of the rotors 3 and 4, a guide member 62 provided in the shafts 7 and 8 rotating together with the rotors forms a ring gap section traversed by a cooling medium as a cooling gap 32. Each cooling gap 32 extends between the guide member 62 and the inner wall of the hollow chamber 31 of the rotor and between the inlet side and the pressure side of the rotors 3 and 4. The cooling medium is supplied to the cooling gap through a supply pipeline and a discharge pipeline which pass through the shafts and the guide member and are spaced from each other. A means is provided for ensuring a percolation in the cooling gap having no air bubble or cavitation. The pipeline serving to discharge the cooling medium is opened to a transmission gear chamber 16.
