    • A wire electrode, which is drawn from a supply reel, passed through a predetermined passage, used for processing a workpiece and recovered, is utilized. This wire electrode is passed through the portion of a workpiece which is to be processed, and then reversed along the same path to be passed through the same portion of the workpiece again and recovered. These two parts, i.e., the forwardly-moving and backwardly-moving parts, of the wire electrode are applied to the processing of the workpiece. During this processing operation, these two parts of the wire electrode are fed in the opposite directions in a parallel- and closely-contacting state, and set in the direction of a normal or a tangent to a processing contour. This processing method enables in comparison with a processing method of this kind using a single wire electrode a wider processing clearance to be obtained, and the processing efficiency and accuracy to be improved.

    • An electrode guiding apparatus for a wire-cut spark erosion machine, and more particularly, an improvement in a die-type electrode positioning apparatus provided at a position closest to a workpiece and employed for regulating the position of a part to be machined. The electrode guiding apparatus has a die-type guide provided in a working fluid. In addition, around a member (122) or guide bore (121) for regulating the passage of a wire electrode (2), there are provided a plurality of means (124) for taking out the heat generated through the the friction between the member (122) or guide bore (121) and the wire electrode (2) and the heat conducted from the wire electrode (2), for well cooling the die-type guide, thereby to improve the machining accuracy in, mainly, a high-load machining.

    • An EDM method and system in which a DC output is pulsed to produce a succession of discrete, time-spaced, essentially unidirectional current pulses of a short duration not in excess of 10 microseconds for finish-machining a workpiece with a tool electrode across a fluid-flooded EDM gap, each of the discrete current pulses having an essentially half-cycle sinusoidally rising and falling current time characteristic and a peak current in excess of a predetermined current level. According to the invention, a peak current portion of each of the current pulses beyond the predetermined level is clipped to produce a reformed gap current pulse which is substantially square- or trapezoid-edged and has the predetermined current level.
