    • A programmable thermostat for an air conditioning system for a predetermined volume of space is provided which includes a digital memory for storing a plurality of program times and program temperatures corresponding to the program times, a sensor for sensing the ambient temperature within the predetermined volume of space, a timer for generating the current time of day, and a controller for controlling the on/off switching of the air conditioning system in response to (1) a comparison of the current time of day with the program times stored in the digital memory to access the corresponding current control temperature stored in the digital memory and (2) comparison of the current ambient temperature sensed by the sensor with the current control temperature stored in the memory. A temperature recovery system activates and controls the air conditioning system prior to a given program time so as to bring the ambient temperature of the predetermined volume of space to the control temperature corresponding to the given program time by the given program time. The programmable thermostat includes one or more display devices which provide a visual indication when the temperature recovery program has activated and is controlling the air conditioning system. The display device may also include a graphic display for visually indicating the extent to which recovery has been effected.

    • A programmable thermostat for an air conditioning system having a heating system and a cooling system includes a sensor for sensing the ambient temperature, a timer for generating the current time of day, a memory for storing a plurality of program times, and a heating and a cooling control temperature corresponding to each program time. The memory also stores a first temperature span associated with the heating control temperatures and a second temperature span associated with the cooling control temperatures. The programmable thermostat controls the on/off state of the heating and cooling systems in response to (1) a comparison of the current time of day with the program times and (2) a comparison of the current ambient temperature with the current first and second temperature spans. These comparisons generate a switching control signal for controlling the on/off states of the heating and cooling systems. An alternation controller includes a first adjustor for adjusting the first temperature span prior to a changeover from the cooling system to the heating system. A second adjustor adjusts the second temperature span prior to the change-over from the heating system to the cooling system. Cycling of the air conditioning system between the heating system and the cooling system is thereby prevented if the heating control temperature is near the cooling control temperature.

    • A pulsating sprinkler incorporating a three-position trip mechanism facilitating forward/reverse rotation and continuous rotation. The trip mechanism includes a trigger for reversing direction of rotation of the sprinkler, a latch for engaging an impact arm, and a control arm for maintaining the trigger in a fixed position. The trigger, latch and control arm are joined to a common pivot on the sprinkler body. A multiple position diffuser and deflector lever is adjustable for various degrees of diffusion or deflection of a water stream. The sprinkler body is easily removed from the bushing assembly by compression of snap fingers located at a terminal end of the spring body. Further, an O-ring radially seals a space between the bushing assembly and the sprinkler body. An impact arm having two plates with separated vanes extending between the plates or an impact arm with a single plate with two downwardly projecting vanes may be used for ease in molding and increasing manufacturing efficiency.
