    • A leak detection apparatus is provided for mitigating against the negative effects of sensor misalignment during use, the leak detection apparatus comprising a leak sensor 16 (which may be acoustic) arranged to detect a leak in a container, such as a metal pipe 20. The leak detection apparatus further comprises an alignment detecting member 21 which may be an aceelerometer, a gyro sensor etc, the alignment detecting member arranged to detect an alignment and/or orientation of the leak sensor. The leak detection apparatus further comprises one or more output nodes arranged to output the leak detection data and/or the alignment to one or more output members. An output member may be a display member to display data or alignment to a user, or a transceiver 23 to transmit leak detection data or alignment information to receiver. The leak detection apparatus aims to inform a user of a misalignment of the leak detection apparatus during use, and therefore preferably overcomes current issues with diminishing accuracy of such sensors over time.

    • A cloud computing server interface arranged to provide a platform for transferring data from, and updating the status of, field devices 12 for use in utilities monitoring. A cloud computing server 18 interface comprises, a first data processing element 22 arranged to reconfigure the remote device(s) and/or control transfer of data from the remote device(s) to a first storage element 20 of the server; and a second data processing element 24 arranged to control data transfer from the first storage device to a second storage device 16 in the server; wherein data transfer to the second storage device is dependent upon a second storage device status (e.g. storage capacity, hardware parameters, current activity, operations list, availability). In an alternative embodiment the first storage element and second storage element are located on different servers. The second processing element may check the status of the second storage device at predetermined intervals. The remote/field device(s) may be a data logger e.g. logging water flow and/or pressure measurements to report to the server. The first storage element may be cache memory whereas the second storage element may comprise a hard drive.
