    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for processing an ultrasonic response signal collected from a plurality of measurement points positioned along a weld zone of a test sample, and determining the existence of a defect in the weld zone.SOLUTION: The method includes a step of filtering the ultrasonic response signal from each measurement point and generating a plurality of filtered response signals for respective measurement points where each filtered response signal corresponds to a specific type defect. Then, a plurality of energy distributions are calculated for the weld zone on the basis of the plurality of filtered response signals of the measurement points. The plurality of energy distributions are compared with corresponding reference energy distributions, thereby determining the existence of the defect in the weld zone.
