    • An apparatus for stacking a plurality of articles (1) in a side-to-side relation. The articles (1) are conveyed in an upright end-to-end relation on a conveyor (3) and a bin (12) or article receiving means is positioned adjacent the downstream end of the conveyor (3) and individually receives each articles (1) discharged from the conveyor (3). The bin (12) includes a bottom wall (13) and a rear wall (15) and the bin (12) is movable between a receiving position where the bottom wall (13) extends downwardly and outwardly from the downstream end of the conveyor (3), to a discharge position where the bottom wall (13) is disposed substantially horizontal. Each article (1) being received within the bin (12) is held in an upright position and is transferred laterally within the bin (12) against a movable support plate (40), and each succeeding article (1) received in the bin (12) is transferred in a similar manner against the preceding article (1) to form a stack (8). The bin (12) is then tilted so that the bottom surface (13) is generally horizontal and a pusher plate (54) pushes the stack (8) of articles (1) forwardly out of the bin (12) onto a discharge conveyor (9).

    • A conveyor construction that includes a conveyor frame assembly formed from a pair of spaced side frame members interconnected with each other by spaced cross members. The upper bed of the conveyor frame assembly is formed from individual bed plate strips attached to each of the cross members. The width of the conveyor frame assembly can be modified by the proper selection of the number of bed plate strips. The conveyor frame assembly includes a separate tensioning assembly and tracking adjustment assembly. The tracking adjustment assembly is adjusted separate from the tensioning assembly such that additional tension applied to the conveyor belt does not affect the previously selected tracking adjustment. The conveyor construction includes a center drive unit having only a single drive roller, a guide roller and a tensioning roller. The tensioning roller position is controlled by a pair of spaced tensioning cylinder.

    • A method and apparatus for loading articles (2) into a container. The articles, in the form of a side-­by-side stack of small trays or boxes, are conveyed along a conveyor (3) and are discharged into a bin (27), which is mounted for pivoting movement between an article receiving position, in which the base of the bin is located at an acute angle to the horizontal, to a dis­charge position where the base is disposed generally vertical. The stack of articles received within the bin is supported against a movable end wall, and clamp­ing means is provided to clamp the stack laterally against a side wall of the bin, as well as clamping the stack against the base. With the stack clamped in the bin, the bin is then rotated to the discharge position and the movable end wall is moved to a release posi­tion. The bin is then lowered to lower the stack into a container (6), and on release of the clamping mechanism the stack is discharged into the container.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent water from intruding into a bearing assembly from outside of a conveyor. SOLUTION: A conveyor structure comprises a frame 12, a pair of spindles 62 installed on the frame 12, and a belt 20 running around the spindles 62. An upper supporting member is located between the spindles 62 in cooperation with the frame 12 and installed under the belt 20 so as to support the belt 20 between the spindles 62. A butt fitting structure for preventing sideways movement of the spindles and the belt 20 relative to the frame 12 between the spindles 62 is installed between the belt 20 and spindles 62 and the upper supporting member. In this manner, the belt 20 is held in the running relation relative to the spindles 62 and frame 12 and overlapped on the exterior walls 28, 44, etc., of the lateral members, the structure, and adjoining belt fitting part of the spindles 62 and the opening facing inward is sealed and the moisture or contaminant is precluded from intruding into a belt receptacle recess.
