    • An improved asphalt paver (3) having a remixing conveyor system that is adapted to substantially or entirely eliminating segregation in hot mix asphalt material delivered to the asphalt paver (3). The remixing conveying system includes at least one pair of parallelly spaced, oppositely pitched, counter-rotating hydraulically driven feed augers (19, 21) having remixing blades (43) that intermittently displace portions of the hot mix asphalt material generally transversely to the direction that the feed augers (19, 21) convey the hot mix asphalt material from a hopper (7) of the asphalt paver to spreading augers near the rear of the machine. Elongate members (55) over the feed augers (19, 21) provide protection from impact forces and overloading and enhancing lateral extraction of hot mix asphalt material from the hopper (7). An optional feed screen (59) provides flow control of the hot mix asphalt material in the hopper. A kit is provided for converting existing asphalt paving machines to have desegregating capability. A method is provided for substantially or entirely eliminating segregation in hot mix asphalt material delivered to an asphalt paver.

    • A sealed wheel case is provided for use with a vibratory device for vibrating aggregate material. The vibratory device includes a frame and a rotating shaft extending transversely across the frame, with the shaft havin g a wheel. The sealed wheel case includes a housing having a base, a peripheral sidewall, and a cover. The housing is sized to receive therein th e wheel and is further adapted to house therein a quantity of lubricating oil for lubricating the wheel. A plurality of attachment bolts are provided for securing the housing to the frame. Each of the attachment bolts includes a shank, an inner end disposed within the wheel case and having an inner contact surface, an inner control washer disposed between the inner contact surface and the housing base, with the inner control washer having a first predetermined thickness. The inner control washer includes an aperture therethrough sized to form with the bolt shank an annular cavity, and an O- ring is provided which is sized for insertion in the annular cavity, with th e O-ring having a second predetermined thickness greater than the first predetermined thickness. The bolt further includes an outer end disposed outside the wheel case and having an outer contact surface adjacent the frame. Accordingly, in response to securement of each attachment bolt each O-ring is compressed to substantially fill its adjacent annular cavity, thereby preventing the lubricant from escaping the housing.

    • On a vertical shaft impact crusher, a table assembly having a reinforcing ring is disclosed. The vertical shaft impact crusher for crushin g aggregate material includes a frame, with the table assembly being mountable to the frame for rotation about a vertical axis. The crusher includes a housing defining an impact surface spaced about an interior of th e housing and surrounding the table assembly. The table assembly comprises a top surface, a bottom surface, and a peripheral edge. The top surface includes a central portion defining an aggregate landing surface, with the central portion being adapted to permit outward migration of the aggregate material in response to rotation of the table assembly. A plurality of shoe assemblies are mounted to the top surface adjacent to and spaced along the peripheral edge, with each shoe assembly being adapted to cause the outwardly migrating aggregate material to be thrown against the housing impact surface in response to rotation of the table assembly. The shoe assemblies collectively imparting a downward bending moment to the table assembly in response to rotation of the table assembly. A reinforcing ring i s mounted to the table assembly bottom surface, with the reinforcing ring being responsive to rotation of the table assembly to thereby counteractthe downward bending moment, whereby the stresses on the table assembly are relieved.

    • A tensioning device for maintaining proper belt tension on the drive belt of a tracked vehicle. The flexible drive belt extends between a drive wheel and a carriage mounted free wheel. An idler device dynamically adjusts the tension on the drive belt, and includes a drive wheel mounted to a frame, a carriage slidably mounted t o the frame and supporting a free wheel, a hydraulic cylinder mounted to the frame and engaging the carriage for applying a force to the carriage. A hydraulic control circuit operates the hydraulic cylinder, the control circuit being adapted to adjust the pressure in the hydraulic cylinder to apply a first force against the carriage in response to a first detected condition, such as during normal forward operation of the vehicle. The control circuit is further adapted to apply a second force against the carriage in response to a second detected condition, such as during reverse operation of the vehicle. A sensor is provided for detecting the operating condition of the vehicle and is connected to the hydraulic circuit.
