Producing intermittent audible signals; visible non-luminous signals.-The gravitational action of a number of successively falling bodies such as rollers or balls of steel, lead or other material is utilized to actuate devices to produce a noise, a light, or a movement to scare birds or vermin or to give warning, the interval between the successive falls being controlled by clock mechanism. In the form shown a casing, preferably of grotesque appearance, is fitted internally with a board 4 surrounded by a hollow coil 5 containing steel balls 6. A clock 9 is mounted on the board and its seconds arbor 10 carries a pin wheel controlling the escape of the balls from the lower end of the coil 5. As each ball escapes it drops on cupped portions of rocking arms 49, 53 and thence into a drawer 55 at the bottom of the casing. Electric circuits are completed through contacts on the arbor 10, so that in addition to the rocking of the arm 49, 53 produced by the balls, an electric bell is rung and electric lamps are lighted intermittently. The light may be directed on the rocking arms. The pin wheel may be replaced by a gate wheel or by a wheel having a number of curved depressions in its periphery to receive the balls. A number of such wheels may be arranged to operate in series. The balls may be arranged to run down a track and fall upon a trigger or like device that fires a detonator. In other modifications the balls strike bells or metal discs or actuate a bellows connected to a whistle, reed, or horn.
