摘要： The present invention is directed toward a system to detect inflammation in tissue of a patient. A system for use with the present invention may comprise a source of a plurality of a nanoparticulate contrast agent, a scanner, a data store, and an analyzer. A method of the present invention is directed toward injecting a patient with a plurality of a nanoparticulate contrast agent and scanning the patient's body with computed tomography (CT). CT generated data is analyzed and used to assess the presence of inflammation in the patient's tissue. 摘要： Instruments, systems, implants, and methods are provided for performing submucosal medical procedures in a desired area of the digestive tract using endoscopy. Instruments include a safe access needle injection instrument, a submucosal tunneling instrument, a submucosal dissection instrument, and a mucosal resection device. A submucosal implant device for diagnosing and treating disorders of the body may be implanted. A passive submucosal implant device may take the form of a drug delivery depot in which a therapeutic agent within the depot elutes from the depot according to a predetermined elution profile. An active submucosal implant device may take the form of a drug delivery device that incorporates a self-contained diagnostic system to determine the appropriate delivery time and dosage of a therapeutic agent to be administered.

A vasodilating stimulant is provided to a patient to stimulate hemodynamic activity in a selected region of the patient's body. In an embodiment, endothelial function may then be assessed by monitoring a change in a hemodynamic parameter at the selected region and assessing the patient's endothelial function based upon that monitoring. In a further embodiment, endothelial function may then be measured by monitoring a change in blood oxygen content at the selected region and assessing the patient's endothelial function based upon that monitoring. In an embodiment, a region of interest in a patient is scanned using computed tomography (CT). CT generated data resulting from the scanning is stored where the data comprise calcification data.
