摘要： A variable damping apparatus for isolating a payload object from an exterior surface which is subject to vibration. The apparatus features a vibration isolation assembly which includes a payload platform suspended by a spring from a baseplate supported by the exterior surface. Damping of vibrations between the baseplate and the payload platform is provided by multiple vanes immersed in a viscous liquid. The vanes are configured to have an overlap which adjustable by an actuator mechanism of the apparatus. Adjusting the overlap via the actuator changes the effective area of the vanes in the viscous liquid, and hence adjusts the amount of viscous damping of the apparatus.
