      SOLUTION: A switchable birefringent lens array includes a birefringent material, arranged between a planar surface and at least one projection surface defining an array of cylindrical lenses; and an electrode for applying a control voltage to both ends of the birefringent material. In a 3D mode, a prescribed voltage is applied to the electrode of the lens array, and the birefringent material is aligned approximately in parallel with a geometrical axis of the cylindrical lenses at, at least; and one projection surface and twists between the planar surface and the projection surface and modifies the directional distribution of incident light polarized in a predetermined direction. In a 2D mode, in a state where the prescribed voltage is not applied to the electrode, the birefringent material is homeotropically aligned at, at least, one projection surface and is configured so as to have substantially no effect on incident light polarized in the predetermined direction.

The scale-adjusting function circuit adjusts an image scale corresponding to a first display signal and outputs a second display signal accordingly. The image gamma modulation circuit performs a gamma modulation on the second display signal to output a third display signal. The data driver, disposed on the LCD panel, drives the data electrodes to display pictures on the LCD panel according to the second control signal.
