摘要： An apparatus and method for increasing the resolution of a linear array fiber Bragg gratings by applying a plastic coating haying a high CTE over the optical fiber. Apparatus and method for determining the temperature of each o succession of points along a tissue portion during hyperthermia treatment incl an optical fiber with a succession of closely spaced fiber Bragg gratings. Each grating is responsive to a different wavelength and is sensitive to ambient temperature to change that wavelength as a function sf temperature. A tunabl laser operative continuously over a range of wavelengths including those to w the gratings respond is used to interrogate the gratingb. Sensitivity-enhancing coatings are used on the fibers and the lasers are tuned over very short time cycles.

摘要： PURPOSE:To assure operator's safety as well as to lessen manpower and to improve productivity by providing a positioning adapter which sets a capillary open end position by pressing the rear end of the thermometer, thereby automating an operation for adjusting the amt. of mercury and sealing the mercury. CONSTITUTION:The thermometer 50 housed with the mercury of the amt. slightly larger than the required amt. in a capillary communicating with a mercury tank part 51 is inserted into a thermometer holding part 4 in synchronization with the intermittent rotation of a turn table 5. The positioning attachment presses the rear end of the thermometer 50 held in said holding part 4 in the prescribed position simultaneously therewith or after rotation of the turn table 5 at a specified angle, thereby setting the capillary open end position. The thermometer mercury tank part 51 is immersed in a thermostatic chamber 1 and is kept heated to a specified temp. after the point of the time when said part is inserted into the holding part 4 or is positioned therein. The mercury in the capillary is thereby thermally expanded and the excess amt. thereof flows over the capillary open end part 52 so that the capillary is filled with the mercury. The thermometer 50 is carried in this state to the position of a sealing means (gas burner) and the open end part 52 is sealed by the gas burner.
