    • PURPOSE:To abrade a long object under process with a small sized device by using a barrel with its rotating center line in parallel with its installation plane. CONSTITUTION:A barrel 1, with a lining 2 attached inside, is formed in a nearly cylindrical structure with openings on both sides, and side walls 3 are provided on the outside of the barrel 1. Said side walls 3 are fixed, and are provided in part with insert ports 9 for an object under process W, a chip exhaust port 12, and a filter 14 which separates chips T from abrasives and is connected to an abrasive exhaust port 11. The barrel 1 is constituted so that it is rotated between said fixed side walls 3 around a center line 0-0 as an axis, and a long object under process W is abraded by proceeding through said insert ports 9, 9 provided on the side walls 3. Chips T are pressed to the inner wall of the barrel 1 by a centrifugal force, and after hitting the object under abrasion W drop downward. Accordingly, the object under abrasion W can reliably be abraded regardless of its length, and the device can be constructed in a small size.

    • PURPOSE:To improve polishing efficiency by applying the constitution wherein a work shaft fitted in a liftable polishing shaft chest is made to turn in either direction on a rack and pinion and the rotary direction of a workpiece is changed in a short time for the easy control of a polishing direction on the move of said chest. CONSTITUTION:When a workpiece has been held, upper and lower rotary discs 8 and 9 come down, a workpiece 31 is inserted in abrasives and a polishing shaft drive motor 14 is operated, thereby actuating a drive shaft and a crank arm, and causing the reciprocating turn of a rack. Concurrently, therefore, a pinion gives a reciprocating motion, while a polishing shaft 23 and the workpiece 31 giving a reciprocating turn. When the workpiece 31 is flat and made to agree to the dead point of the crank arm in a direction orthogonal with the flow direction of abrasives, the sliding speed of the rack becomes minimum at the aforesaid position in the motion of a crank mechanism. Namely, the rotary speed of the workpiece is minimum and time is prolonged when abrasives are orthogonally in contact with the workpiece, thereby improving polishing effect.
