摘要： An apparatus suspends a personal radiation protection garment above a work surface. The suspension apparatus comprises a support member positioned above the work surface, a cable mechanically suspended from the support member, and means for counter-balancing the weight of the personal radiation protection garment attached to the cable. Means for attaching the counter-balancing means to the personal radiation protection garment suspend the personal radiation protection garment. The attaching means includes means for disconnecting the garment from the counter-balancing means, the disconnecting means manually operable by one hand of a user and disposed within reach of the user while wearing the personal radiation protection garment attached to the counter-balancing means. The personal radiation protection garment is supported in suspension and may be disconnected from the counter-balancing means by the one hand of the user for releasing the personal radiation protection garment from suspension while still being worn by the user.

In operation when said human interface device is worn by said person, the weight of any load coupled to or supported by said frame will be partially supported by the friction force between the area of said fabric which is pushed against the person’s lower back, and the person’s lower back allowing said person to carry said load.

摘要： A garment for use in a radioactive environment comprises a front portion, a rear portion, a shoulder portion used for suspending the garment over the body of a wearer, and an elasticized belt fixed to the garment at substantially waist or hip level. The belt is adapted to be stretched, tightened and secured around the waist or hips such that at least a part of the weight of the garment is substantially transferred to the waist or hips. The front portion of the garment has a lower flap adapted to lie against the front of the wearer and an upper flap for folding over the lower flap. The elasticized belt is secured releasably to the upper flap of the rear portion. Securing means are provided for holding the belt in the stretched and tightened position, and this securing means comprises at least one Velcro strip attached to the outside surface (when worn) of the belt at the point where the belt is secured to the upper flap, and one or more corresponding Velcro strips secured to the inside surface of the belt at the free end thereof. The strips at each end are adapted to overlie each other when the belt is in the stretched and tightened position around the waist or hips of the wearer.

摘要： A two-piece radiation shield garment for the human body is disclosed comprising an adjustably overlapping vest to protect the upper body and a wraparound skirt to protect the lower body. The vest and skirt are constructed of multiple inner layers of flexible radiation shielding material covered with nonshielding fabric or other material. The vest and skirt may be attractively fashioned and decorated to encourage their use as a shield garment for women. The vest includes a rear shield panel joined to a pair of overlapping front shield panels. Similarly, the skirt includes a rear shield panel connected to a pair of overlapping front shield panels. The overlapping front panels of the vest and skirt have wide cooperating horizontal bands of Velcro-type tape closures providing an adjustable fit and a secure closure for the heavy materials. The vest and skirt overlap in the waist region when worn to provide continuous vertical and all-around protection to the body while allowing freedom of movement to the wearer.
