    • The present invention relates generally to an optical security system having a key, an optic lock, and a processing system. The lock generally has a plurality of optic reflective sensors, a plurality of readable discs, and a controller for processing information to and from the plurality of sensors. The optic security lock senses the surface changes of state during the rotation of the plurality of discs caused by the turning of the fully-engaged key. The data from the sensors is communicated to the controller, with the controller having a microprocessor capable of communicating data to and receiving data from the sensors. The processing system analyzes the data from the controller and compares the data to known information in a database for generating a lock command signal. Additionally, an external keypad device can be coupled in data communication with the controller and processing system for additional security verification before generating a corresponding lock command signal.

    • Reading sections (21a, 21b) wherein disks (10a, 10b) bearing barcodes are installed, are provided, and code sensors (23a, 23b) for reading out these barcodes are provided in the reading sections (21a, 21b). When a player rotates a disk (10a, 10b) installed on a turntable (22a, 22b), the barcode is read out by the code sensors (23a, 23b), and parameters are set respectively on the basis of this barcode. Thereafter, if the player rotates the disk (10a, 10b) while simultaneously operating the buttons (25a-27a, 25b-27b), this combination is input as a command, and the game is developed accordingly. Thereby, it is possible to provide an information storage medium, information reproduction device, game machine, and information reproduction method, whereby code, such as barcode, or the like, can be used effectively.

    • A system and method for facilitating delivery of fuel to a customer site with a delivery truck. A hand-held device captures an identifier specific to the given customer. A zero flow of fuel being transferred from the delivery truck to a customer storage tank is sensed, and the fuel delivery is tagged for billing to the customer based upon when the zero flow is sensed in relation to when the identifier is captured. The hand-held device is used to log the identifier and an identification time at which the identifier is captured. A computer is provided on-board the delivery truck, and logs zero flow indications and the respective zero flow times. The system determines which ones of the zero flow times are after the identification time but before a next occurring identification time at which the hand-held device captures a next identifier.

    • Techniques for determining a position for a rotating optical element, or spinner, of a bar code scanner are described. A diffractive element is positioned so as to be struck by a laser beam produced by a laser source and reflected from the spinner when the spinner is in a reference position. The diffractive element diffracts the reflected beam to produce a diffracted line which strikes a reference position photodetector, thereby causing the reference position photodetector to produce a reference position photosignal. The reference position photosignal can be read by a controller to determine when the spinner is in the reference position, and the position of a Hall sensor can be read at the same time in order to calibrate the reading of the Hall sensor with the reference position. Thereafter, the reading of the Hall sensor can be used to provide accurate position information for the sensor and the position information can be used to control activation and deactivation of the laser source when the spinner is in appropriate positions to produce a desired scan pattern.
