    • A depth gauge for measuring the depth of holes in bones or implants inserted within bones. The tool includes a probe with an abutment at its end to engage against the distal edge of the hole, a tubular body and a grooved insert. After the probe, slidably disposed within the tubular body, is positioned through the hole to be measured, the grooved insert is slid forward inside the tubular body. This pushes the probe sideward, towards the hole wall. When probe and grooved insert are retracted together, they firmly engage against the distal bone wall with the abutment engaging the distal wall adjacent to the hole. The tubular housing is then pushed forward until it abuts against the proximal bone wall, allowing, even in small diameter holes, an accurate reading of hole depth on the scale located at the rear end of the probe.

    • GAUGE Disclosed is a gauge (2) and methods of using the gauge (2). The gauge (2) comprises a collar (8) having an axial bore (84) with an opening and a predetermined diameter, a member (4) slidably mounted within at least part of the axial bore (84), and an indicator means (10). It may be determined that the diameter of aprotrusion (14, 16)from a surface (18)is less that that of the opening if, whenthe opening of the axial bore (84) ispositioned over the protrusion(14, 16), the collar (8) may be moved such that the protrusion (14, 16) is wholly within the axial bore (84) and the collar (8) contactsthe surface (18). If the collar (8) is moved in this way, the indicator means (10) is configured toindicate whether or not the length of the protrusion (14, 16) is within a predetermined range.
