    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To economically provide a fatty acid ester mixed with cellulose as a biomass material with high quality.
      SOLUTION: The method for producing the fatty acid ester mixed with cellulose, wherein hydroxyl group of cellulose is substituted by an acetyl group and an acyl group whose carbon number is not less than three, comprises esterification reaction of cellulose with acetic acid anhydride as an acylating agent and an organic acid anhydride whose carbon number is at least three and satisfaction of equation (I) with a molar amount of the acetic acid anhydride and the organic acid anhydride whose carbon number is at least three. The equation (I) is Macy/(Mace+Macy)=k×DSacy/(DSace+DSacy), 0≤k≤0.5, wherein Mace is a molar amount of acetic acid anhydride used as an acylating agent, Macy is a molar amount of an organic acid anhydride whose carbon number is at least three and that is used as an acylating agent, DSace is a degree of substitution by acetyl group, and DSacy is a degree of substitution by acyl group whose carbon number is at least three.
