    • A gasoline dispenser control and data system comprising a central office and a plurality of local stations, each station having dispenser control functions, data storage functions and communication functions. The station has a dispenser control mode and data entry mode. In the dispenser control mode a dispenser may be set to dispense gasoline, such dispensing of gasoline resulting in the production of pulses which are accumulated in a counter. The dispenser may then be reset for the next sale. Upon reset the counter is returned to zero, and the previous sale is stored in a temporary memory for recall and display, also being stored in two separate permanent memories, one of which is accessible to the station operator and the other of which is not accessible to the station operator. In the data entry mode the station operator can enter data into some but not all permanent memories. The station data system may be telephoned by the central office and each memory interrogated. The central office may also enter new data in the station data system. There is a provision for interrupting transmission for a limited time for operation of dispensers on a limited basis. There is also a provision for automatically entering data such as the amount of gasoline in storage tanks in the station memory, for ''''in use'''' and ''''ready'''' signals for each dispenser, and for an emergency off function.

    • A dispensing control and display system for fluid products is disclosed which is adapted to control the operation of a number of dispensers from a remote location and also provide a visual display at the remote location of quantity and cost data for the fluid being dispensed by each of the dispensers. The system utilizes pulse code and multiplexing in a telemetering system that requires little modification of the dispensers themselves, which may be gasoline pumps or the like. The system uses existing power conductors for transmitting information between a dispenser control unit associated with each of the dispensers and a central control unit at the remote location. Each dispenser control unit responds to an individual identification code signal sent by the central control unit and transmits the data to the central control unit which is then received and forwarded to and displayed by a corresponding console control unit. The identification code signals permit the system to operate with a single carrier frequency. The system includes features that insure accurate display of the cost and quantity by saving the data for retransmission in the event the system determines that the data was not properly transmitted. The operation of individual dispensing units may be interrupted and thereafter resumed by an operator at the remote location if desired, without affecting the display of the data.

    • A self-service automotive service station is provided with an electrical control system for controlling and recording the dispensing of fuel at a remote location including a momentary contact switch for energizing a remote relay which is latched in during each dispensing operation and a switch at the dispensing station which momentarily shunts the relay coil at the end of each dispensing operation through a capacitor to open the relay. The system includes interlocks for preventing the resetting of the remote register during operation and for assuring the complete resetting of the register prior to the energization of the coil. It may include a remote cumulative register which is not disabled during attendant operation.
