    • Abstract An apparatus 32 for securing a wheel lock ring 31 to and removing the wheel lock ring 31 from a wheel rim comprises a first support 40, a second support 41, a first nut 44 including a first internal thread having a first orientation, the first nut 5 44 being secured relative to the first support 40 such that the first nut 44 is able to pivot relative to the first support 40, a second nut 45 including a second internal thread having a second orientation opposite to the first orientation, the second nut 45 being secured relative to the second support 41 such that the second nut 45 is able to pivot relative to the second support 41, and a threaded 10 shaft 50 including a first shaft thread 52 having the first orientation and a second shaft thread 53 having the second orientation. The first support 40 and the second support 41 are securable relative to the lock ring 31 such that the first support 40 and the second support 41 are located on opposite sides of an opening 33 in the lock ring 31.     • The instant invention is a wheel disassembly safety system for a multi-piece wheel rim (3 and 4) and tubeless tire 5 combination, teaching designs for automatically relieving/releasing pressure as part of its disassembly. Fastening elements (6) used to hold together portions of a wheel rim are provided with a blocking device (20) that prevents loosening and/or removal of the fastening elements until said 10 blocking device is first moved from a blocking position, where movement of the blocking device from its blocking position directly or indirectly opens or requires the opening of a pressure relief channel or channels (23) - allowing, enabling and effecting depressurization of the sealed pressure vessel. 15 This blocking or safety device, typically in the form of a ring, covers all or a critical portion of the nuts/studs (6) that hold the two wheel pieces together. The act of removing this blocking device so as to access and remove the nuts from the studs to disassemble the wheel, opens an air channel in 20 communication with the tire interior so as to allow pressure to escape from the tire interior.
