    • An electronic dial combination lock has a spindle journalled within the lock for movement in two degrees of freedom, i.e., both rotational and axial displacement, to cause engagement of a push pin located on an internal cam wheel to engage one of a plurality of pressure-sensitive switches within the lock located in an evenly-spaced, circular pattern centered on the spindle's axis, each switch capable of making a discrete, unique electrical connection. Circuit means contained in the region sense the making of the electrical connections and detect when a given subset of connections has been made in a predetermined, sequential order corresponding to the lock's combination, to initiate an electrical signal within the region. The electrical signal may be used, e.g., to operate a solenoid to permit a conventional fence lever to engage the cam wheel such that a bolt within the lock may be withdrawn, such as in a safe door. The lock's internalization of all electronic circuitry renders it tamper-resistant relative to prior art electronic locks and as a suitable replacement for conventional, all-mechanical tumbler wheel locks.

    • A door lock has a flush-mountable body. A forwardly facing recess is defined by the body. A paddle-type handle is pivotally carried by the body and is movable between a nested position within the body recess and an operating position. A spring-projected slide bolt is carried on the back of the body and is movable between projected and retracted positions. A key-controlled disconnect linkage is provided for selectively connecting and disconnecting the handle and the bolt. The disconnect linkage includes a rotatably-mounted disconnect member which extends longitudinally relative to the bolt. Interengageable formations are provided on the bolt and the disconnect member. The interengageable formations are brought into and out of driving engagement by the movement of a key-operated locking member. When the disconnect linkage drivingly connects the handle and the bolt, movement of the handle from its nested position to an operating position will cause corresponding retracting movement of the bolt. When the disconnect linkage disconnects the handle from the bolt, movement of the handle is inoperative to cause retracting movement of the bolt. A feature of the disconnect linkage is that it provides the lock with a "slam" capability, meaning that when the bolt is projected, it can be slammed into latching engagement with a suitably configured strike regardless of whether the disconnect linkage is drivingly connecting or disconnecting the handle and the bolt.

    • A deadbolt lock mechanism of the single cylinder type is disclosed having a latch bolt which is movable between extended and retracted positions by means of a lock cylinder at one side thereof. A thumbturn, together with manually movable coupling control means for controlling the coupling between the thumbturn and latch bolt are located at the other side of the mechanism. In the bolt retracted position, the coupling control means is movable between coupling enabling and disabling positions to condition the coupling for operation of the latch bolt by the thumbturn in the enabling position thereof, and for disabling such latch bolt operation by the thumbturn in the disabling position. Consequently, the latch bolt is operable by the lock cylinder in any position of the thumbturn and coupling control means, whereas the thumbturn is enabled for operation of the latch bolt only when the coupling control means has been moved into enabling position.

    • A locking device incorporates a lock case, an escutcheon housing and a door handle. The lock case houses a spring bolt mechanism operable by the door handle and a dead bolt mechanism operable by a locking mechanism. The spring bolt and the dead bolt are separately latchable. The escutcheon housing contains a substantial part and preferably the whole of a lock cylinder mechanism for latching the spring bolt. The dead bolt mechanism is adapted to be actuated, at any rate from one side, by a key via lock cylinder mechanism or a tumbler lever mechanism. From the other side the dead bolt can be latched or released via the said tumbler lever mechanism, a separate lock cylinder mechanism or a handle. Said handle may also cooperate with the spring bolt via a separate mechanism contained in a second escutcheon housing. When the dead bolt is actuated by a tumbler lever mechanism a cover plate in the escutcheon housing preferably cooperates with the spring bolt mechanism so that it covers the key hole for the tumbler lever mechanism when the spring bolt is being latched.
