    • A sash lock mechanism includes a handle, a housing adapted to be supported by a sash window assembly, the housing having an opening receiving the handle therethrough, and a rotor coupled to the handle. The rotor is moveable between at least a locked position and an unlocked position by movement of the handle. The sash lock mechanism also includes a locking mechanism that contains a pivotable member pivotably connected to the housing. The pivotable member is pivotable between a first position and a second position. When the rotor is in the locked position and the pivotable member is in the first position, the pivotable member confronts the rotor to prevent movement of the rotor to the unlocked position. When the pivotable member is in the second position, the pivotable member does not prevent movement of the rotor.

    • An electromechanical cylinder lock includes an outer lock shell and a rotatable lock barrel located therein which is controlled by dual locking features. A side bar or fence selectively blocks and permits rotation of the barrel with respect to the shell in response to insertion of a key into a keyway in the barrel. A slider bar is movable between a blocking position in which the side bar is prevented from permitting rotation of the barrel, and an unblocking position in which the side bar permits rotation of the barrel. Alternately, a blocking mechanism is provided to block motion of tumbler pins in the cylinder lock. A shape memory alloy actuator, such as a wire made of nitinol, disposed in the barrel is activated by an electric current in response to determination by an electronic control device whether an attempt to open the lock is authorized. Thermal interlock protection from external heating of the lock is also provided.

    • In a steering lock device wherein engagement and disengagement of a lock pin to and from a steering shaft can be selected by the rotation of a rotor, the steering lock device comprises: interlocking structure provided between a cylinder body and a joint so that when the cylinder body is pulled out from a housing, the interlocking structure causes the joint to move in an axial direction together with the cylinder body; an axial movement preventing member disposed in the housing so as to be moveable in a direction perpendicular to the axis of the joint to engage the joint and thereby prevent the axial movement of the joint when the joint is pulled out a predetermined distance; and a rotation preventing portion provided to the housing so as to engage an outer circumferential surface of the joint to thereby prevent rotation of the joint in a state that the axial movement preventing member engages the joint.

    • The present invention is an improvement on an inner cylinder lock and more specifically, on the bolt thereof. The bolt engages an opening in the rear case of the inner cylinder lock. The improvement on the bolt prevents the bolt from moving in a lateral direction and restricts the travel of the bolt in a direction transverse to the lateral direction. This is accomplished by providing two generally rectangular projecting members, each of which extends from opposite sides of the bolt. The projecting members fit into accommodating channels which are disposed within the opening in the rear case. The bolt also has a cavity located in its rear. The purpose of the cavity is to receive a spring biased locking pin. The spring biased locking pin is located in the posterior wall of the rear case. During normal operation, the bolt is limited in its travel by a pin engages the bolt. The projecting members prevent lateral movement of the bolt. And, if the portion of the lock anterior to the bolt is removed by force, and the pin pried out of its engagement with the bolt, the bolt will be biased towards and through the opening in the rear case and the locking pin in the posterior wall of the rear case will engage the cavity in the rear of the bolt, and thus prevent the bolt from being moved in a direction transverse to the lateral direction.

    • An improved vault door having a daylock and a relock mechanism is disclosed. The door is selectively locked and unlocked within a frame of the vault by operating a pair of combination locks mounted to the door front to slide a lock bar mounted to the rear of the door. The daylock mechanism includes a spring biased member which engages a cavity in a daylock extension attached to the lock. This engagement holds the lock bar in the unlocked position so the door may be swung within the frame without the lock bar impacting the frame. A keylock mounted in the front of the door may be turned to withdraw the member from the cavity so the lock bar can be slid to secure the door in the frame. The relock mechanism includes a pivotably mounted bar held in a horizontal position by a pin mounted to an attack plate that is displaceably mounted to a mounting plate on the rear of the door. When a drill augers through the door and impacts the attack plate, the plate moves rearwardly to move the pin out of engagement with the pivotable bar. The bar then rotates to a position where it blocks the withdrawal of the lock bar to the unlocked position regardless of any operation of the combination locks.

    • A pin tumbler lock barrel assembly is capable of preventing the lock from being operated by the use of a skeleton key or any other tool inserted into the key slot. The lock is comprised of an improved hollow lock casing having a key plug located therein and a specially designed sleeve that surrounds the lock casing that is relatively rotatable with respect thereto. The sleeve is comprised of two halves that are interconnected by spring-loaded fasteners. A crescent-shaped slot is provided on the key plug and is aligned with two radial through bores formed in the lock casing and one of the sleeve halves. An alarm system includes a switch assembly on the periphery of the sleeve which is aligned with the radial bore. A specially designed sliding element with a cam-shaped end surface cooperates with the lock casing allowing only the correct key to operate the lock mechanism.

    • The invention relates to a cylinder lock with a cylinder housing (1) and, rotatably mounted therein, a cylinder plug (2) comprising a key passage extending in its axial direction, with a lock bit (5) coupled to the cylinder plug and rotatably mounted in the cylinder housing (1), there being provided in the cylinder housing and in the cylinder plug a plurality of mutually aligned bores which extend into the passage and in which there are, by a spring force in the direction of the passage, plug pins which are of different lengths and housing pins which are preferably of the same length, there being formed between the cylinder housing and the cylinder plug a first separating joint traversed by the housing pins when the key is not inserted into the lock, the ends of the plug pins so co-operating with the locking notches of the key that when the key is inserted the pins are displaced in their axial direction into a position in which the bearing ends of all plug and housing pins are located in the first separating joint and so allow a rotation of the cylinder plug and of the lock bit. The invention envisages disposing in the cylinder housing (1) a displaceable barrier element (9) which locks the lock bit (5) as soon as the cylinder plug (2) is removed from the cylinder housing (1). This ensures that even if the cylinder plug is removed from the cylinder housing by force, which results in a shearing of the plug pins, the lock bit cannot be rotated.
