    • A valve assembly includes a valve body with an access opening in which a linearly installed but pivotally operated gate-like valve-stopping mechanism is disposed, said mechanism including a support structure or cartridge with a pivotally moveable valve-stopping element or isolator (e.g., a butterfly element). A method for hot tapping a pipeline with a valve assembly as described above proceeds by (i) connecting the valve body to a line to be tapped, (iii) connecting a hot-tapping machine to the valve body, (iv) connecting a bonnet holding the valve-stopping mechanism to the valve body over the access opening, (v) hot tapping the line, (vi) advancing the valve-stopping mechanism into the valve body interior, and (vii) disconnecting the hot-tapping machine from the valve body with the valve-stopping element pivoted to the first position where it stops fluid communications. The gate-like valve-stopping mechanism can replace a gate in an insert valve (IV) or a repair-under-pressure (RUP) valve.

    • PURPOSE: An assembling method of a solenoid operated valve, the solenoid valve and a valve manifold assembly are provided to prevent rotation of the valve after installation by aligning the valve body for the manifold port and combining the second tap with the side of the undercut portion. CONSTITUTION: An assembling method of a solenoid operated valve(12) to a hydraulic manifold is provided, and the manifold is provided thereon undercut stanchions(32,34) disposed on opposite sides of a cavity(20) communicating with fluid valve passages(24,26). A U-shaped bracket(43) with a central aperture is received over the solenoid and a first pair of tabs which engage lugs(40,42) disposed respectively on opposite sides of the valve body function to prevent relative rotation between the bracket and the valve. The bracket has a pair of resiliently deflectable spring arms extending oppositely and having a pair of second tabs(54,56). The spring arms are deflected on the stanchions upon user insertion of the valve body into the cavity. The spring arms resiliently engage the undercuts to prevent removal of the valve, and the second tabs engage the sides of the stanchions to prevent relative rotation of the bracket and the valve.
