    • The present invention relates to a system for unmating a board-to-board high pin count connector pair, said connector pair comprising two connector elements (1,2) adapted to be mated together and fixedly mounted on two respective boards (10,20); said connector pair is so configured that the two boards (10,20) are substantially parallel when the two connector elements (1,2) are mated together; the system according to the present invention comprises at least two cam elements (11,12) rotatably mounted on a first board (10) on opposite sides with respect to the corresponding connector element (1) and rotation means (13,14,15,16,17) adapted to manually rotate the cam elements (11,12) so as to apply a force to a second one (20) of the two boards when the two connector elements (1,2) are mated together, thereby unmating the connector pair.

    • A locking device for connectors includes levers rockably provided on both sides of one of the connectors and latches provided on both sides of the other connector. Each of the levers has a removing pawl extending toward the other lever and a latch piece to be engaged with the latches of the other connector to lock the connectors. When the levers are rotated for unlocking the connectors, a removed distance of one connector relative to the other connector during a first half period of the rotation of the levers is made smaller than a removed distance of the one connector during the latter half period of the rotation of the levers. The above arrangement of the levers ensures that clearances between the latch pieces and the latches are as small as possible and an ultimate removed distance of the one connector from the other connector is sufficient.

    • A single-motion trigger line card insertion/removal tool uses a handle and a spring-loaded sliding trigger to allow a technician to grab the line card insertion/removal tool with their thumb and pointer fingers, and pull the trigger while rotating the handle to eject the line card from a network device. The motion of pulling the trigger simultaneously unlocks the line card insertion/removal tool, starts the rotation of the handle with the spring load, and closes a “window” on an optical switch breaking a continuous beam of light that software interprets as a warning that the line card will be removed momentarily. When the line card insertion/removal tool handle is rotated back to a closed position (i.e. while inserting the card), the spring tension pulls the trigger back to its original position, locking the line card insertion/removal tool handle, and opening the window for to the beam of light in the optical switch.
