    • A portable load-breaking and pickup apparatus for handling a load associated with a power distribution system is disclosed. The apparatus includes first and second spaced-apart connectors electrically connected by a load break assembly. The load break assembly includes first and second outer contacts configured for mating engagement and configured to provide a low-resistance path between the first and second connectors, and first and second inner contacts configured for mating engagement and configured to provide a high-resistance path between the first and second connectors. The load break assembly transitions from an open position to a closed position in two stages. The two stages include closing the high-resistance path prior to closing the low-resistance path, and closing the low-resistance path after the high-resistance path has been closed.

    • An electrical lineman's pole having a top end and a bottom end. A post extends laterally from the pole proximate its top end. A slot receptacle is provided proximate the post. The slot receptacle has an open top that faces the post and extends in a line perpendicular to the post. To utilize the lineman's pole, the top end is brought into contact with a swinging conductive arm of a protective cutout device. The post extending from the pole is passed through the loop on the swinging conductive arm. A portion of the loop is positioned into the slot receptacle. A lineman pushes on the pole assembly to rotate the swinging conductive arm. The portion of the loop in the slot receptacle prevents the swinging conductive arm from rotating out of a selected plane. Consequently, the cutout protective device does not turn from side to side.

    • Method and apparatus for protecting wildlife from contact with an energized fuse assembly known as a “cutout”, also known as a “disconnect”. The cutout is shrouded from above and three sides. One side is left open to facilitate installation or removal of a fuse holder assembly. The shroud is formed to allow the use of a hot-stick for installation and removal of a fuse holder assembly into a fuse receptacle formed by upper and lower contact assemblies held in opposition to each other by an insulator. The shroud provides a slot enabling installation when a wire is connected to the upper contact assembly. A pin is used to hold the shrouding in place.

    • A portable circuit interrupting apparatus for use on a circuit isolating device and associated methods of formation and use are provided. The portable circuit interrupting apparatus includes a main housing body and a sleeve coaxially mounted therein. The sleeve is slidable between an extended and retracted position. A shunt circuit segment is connected between ring and hook engaging terminals which engage and form an electrical connection between ring-like and hook-like conducting parts of the circuit isolating device. A shunt circuit segment interrupts the electrical connection in response to movement of the sleeve from the retracted position to the extended position. At least portions of a reset plunger extend inwardly through an opening in a medial portion of the sleeve when in the extended position. An operation counter is connected to and responds to the inward extension of the reset plunger to count a number of circuit interrupting operations.
