摘要： A display circuit. The display circuit includes a capacitor having a pixel node and a data node. The display circuit also includes a first select line and a first nonlinear resistive element operatively connecting the pixel node of the capacitor to the first select line, wherein the first nonlinear resistive element presents a different resistance if a negative polarity voltage is applied to the first nonlinear resistive element than if a positive polarity voltage is applied to the first nonlinear resistive element. The display circuit also includes a second select line and a second nonlinear resistive element operatively connecting the pixel node of the capacitor to the second select line, wherein the second nonlinear resistive element presents a different resistance if a negative polarity voltage is applied to the second nonlinear resistive element than if a positive polarity voltage is applied to the second nonlinear resistive element. The first nonlinear resistive element and the second nonlinear resistive element of the display circuit are orientated to present substantially equivalent resistances upon application of opposite polarity select pulses to the first and second select lines.

摘要： An active matrix device comprises an array of rows and columns of pixels disposed over a common substrate. Each pixel comprises a row conductor (30), a first in- plane electrode pattern (32) and a first diode device (36) between the row conductor and the first in-plane electrode pattern (32). A reset conductor (42) is provided and a second diode device (40) is defined between the first in-plane electrode terminal (32) and the reset conductor (42). A column conductor (46) connects to a second in-plane electrode pattern (34) formed from the same layer as the first in-plane electrode pattern (32). The invention provides a diode based active matrix in-plane switching device in which the pixel layout is defined on a single substrate and has a double-diode configuration. The device of the invention is compatible with low cost manufacturing processes, such as roll-to-roll manufacturing.

Due to the voltage-independent capacitance, notably of ferro-electric pixels, a simple drive mode can be used in which a simple correction for possible capacitive effects is sufficient. Notably in a two-pole drive mode, use can be made of the relatively longer time available for (optical) reset. A combination of the two types of drive mode is possible. Compensation of DC effects within a small part of the frame period is also possible without affecting the contrast.
