摘要： A method of managing access to protected content is disclosed, the method being carried out by a content consumption device including a digital rights management engine (1000; 1220). The method comprises receiving a request to access a piece of protected content, and using the digital rights management engine to evaluate digital rights management objects that make up a licence to determine whether permission to access the protected content should be granted, wherein some of the information needed by the digital rights management engine to access the content needs to be obtained through external digital rights management services. The method further comprises dispatching a service discovery request to locate a node that provides a desired service, and finding candidate service providing nodes, sending a request corresponding to a desired service to a service providing node, receiving a response message from the service providing node, and, if permission to access the protected content is granted, using a media rendering engine to render the content.

摘要： A digital content distribution system uses a Digital Rights Management Controller that performs a set of arbitrary tests against the transfer request from one user to another such as user A to user B. Assuming these tests are successful, the DRM sends an encryption key to transferring user A. This encryption key E is taken from a table of encryption key/hash pairs which have been provided to the DRM Controller by an external authority such as the content rights holder. User A encrypts the content using they key provided by the DRM controller and then optionally calculates a hash over the encrypted form of the content E(X) and returns this value to the DRM Controller. On checking the returned hash against the hash from the table the DRM controller knows that user A does indeed have the digital content X in good condition.

摘要： Systems and methods for creating fingerprints for encryption devices are described herein. In various embodiments, the system includes an encryption device operatively connected to a device management system. According to particular embodiments, the device management system: 1) receives a first payload from the encryption device, the first payload including data in a particular format; 2) creates a fingerprint for the encryption device, the fingerprint including a section format for each of one or more distinct sections of the particular format; 3) storing a record of the fingerprint for the encryption device and the unique identifier at the at least one database; and 4) comparing a format of each subsequent payload received from the encryption device to the fingerprint for the device to determine whether the device has been compromised.
