    • An electrostatographic reproducing apparatus using a removable processing cartridge containing at least one electrostatographic processing unit together with a cartridge mounting means to the main frame of the reproducing apparatus and cartridge positioning means is described. The cartridge positioning means comprises a pair of elastomeric loops adapted to engage a frame member of the reproducing apparatus with a compression spring action to thereby maintain the cartridge in its operational position. The loops are of sufficient size and shape that they may be used as handles to manually extract the cartridge from the reproducing apparatus. In the specific embodiment the elastomeric loops are fastened to the top of a cartridge at one end thereof which engages with a bottom of the upper frame portion of a clam-shell type machine when it is pivoted to the closed position thereby maintaining the cartridge in its operational position.

    • An upgradeable imaging system includes a housing with an opening. A support structure and a plurality of imaging stations are disposed within the housing. Each imaging station includes a charging unit and a developing unit. The imaging system also includes a removable module with a photoreceptive substrate. The removable module has an interior space defined within the photoreceptive substrate and at least one exposing unit disposed within the interior space. The removable module is configured to be engageable with the support structure and passable through the opening of the housing. When the removable module is engaged with the support structure, the photoreceptive substrate is disposed operatively adjacent to the imaging stations. Accordingly, the removable module may be removed from the imaging system and replaced with another module. The imaging system includes circuitry for configuring the imaging stations to operate according to a printing routine depending upon the number of exposing units.

The process cartridge includes a first housing portion including a first housing attachment surface and a second housing portion including a second housing attachment surface.     • A photosensitive belt removing device and a photosensitive belt removing method of an electrophotographic printing apparatus are disclosed. The photosensitive belt removing device includes: a belt cutting mechanism installed in the printing apparatus so as to cut in a widthwise direction the photosensitive belt installed at the belt unit in a continuous loop state; a filter cartridge installed in the vicinity of the belt unit for filtering objects floating in the air in the printing apparatus; an auxiliary housing provided at one side of the filter cartridge; a revolver rotatably installed in the auxiliary housing and provided with a through slot so that a leading edge of the photosensitive belt cut by the belt cutting mechanism can be inserted into the through slot; a leading edge introducing guide which guides the leading edge of the photosensitive belt cut by the belt cutting mechanism into the auxiliary housing and introduces the leading edge into the through slot of the revolver; and a driving source which rotates the revolver so that the revolver can wind up the photosensitive belt.
