    • An environmental strip curtain holding apparatus (22) for suspending a plurality of flexible transparent strips (28) forming a curtain includes a bar (32) suitable for mounting to a fixed structure adjacent to a location requiring the presence of a strip curtain (26). A plurality of pegs (46) are coupled to the bar (32), each peg (46) including a stalk (48) extending outwardly from the bar (32). A cap (50) is fixed to a distal end of the stalk (48) spaced by a pre-selected distance from the bar (32). Each cap (50) is generally symmetric with respect to the stalk (48) to which the cap (50) is fixed and has an outermost edge that is ovate to circular. The outermost edge of the cap (50) is sized greater than the stalk (48) to which the cap (50) is fixed and greater than supporting holes (52) in the strips (28) forming the strip curtain (26). The distal outer surface of the cap (50) diminishes in size from the outermost edge of the cap (50) toward a distal extremity of the cap (50) in such a way as to facilitate the elastic stretching of the holes (52) in each strip (28) to a size sufficient to permit the strip (28) to be forced over the outermost edge of the cap (50).

    • A material for use in an industrial traffic curtain (10) formed in strips (12) of a flexible transparent material, such as polyvinyl chloride, having a substantially uniform longitudinal cross-section, which can be achieved by way of a conventional extrusion process. The strip (12) of material has a transverse cross-section defined by first and second parallel surfaces (20, 22), the surfaces having an array of regularly spaced, generally rectangular longitudinal ribs (24, 26) of predetermined height and width. The ribs (24) on the first surface (20) are arranged to be coincident with the ribs (26) on the second surface (22). Each adjacent pair of ribs on each of the surfaces is interspersed by a linear bead (28) having a height dimension (y) approximating the height dimension of the adjacent pair of ribs. The linear beads (28) have a width dimension (x) less than about 10% of the distance (d) between the adjacent pair of ribs so that the space between each pair of ribs remains substantially transparent and vision through the strip is unimpeded. The overlapping strips (12) are arranged in the curtain (10) so that distal surfaces (23) of the ribs (24, 26) on confronting portions of the overlapping strips are in contact with each other.
