    • PURPOSE: A manufacturing method of litter for a barn by using paper-making sludge is provided, which is characterized by decreasing the cost, improving the sanitary conditions of the barn, increasing thermo-keeping effect and preventing inhabitation of a noxious insect. CONSTITUTION: The litter for the barn is obtained by a process containing the steps of: (sorting process) grinding and transferring the paper-making sludge into fine particle with a sorting screen, and supplying to a transferring conveyor on a fixed quantity; (drying process) heating to a transferring path with 100-300deg.C of hot blast, so sterilizing and evaporating ammonia gas and moisture contained in the sludge; and then (blowing process) cooling heat of the sludge.

The shafts (24) are configured with a shape and spacing so that substantially rigid pieces of the paper products move along the screen (12) while non-rigid pieces of the paper products slide down between adjacent shafts (24). In one embodiment, the screen includes at least one vacuum shaft that has a first set of air input holes configured to suck air and retain the non-rigid paper products. A second set of air output holes are configured to blow out air to dislodge the paper products retained by the input holes.

Commingled waste (315) is loaded onto a conveyor (20) with two alternating sets of jogger beams (30, 35).     • A method of pulping baled waste material includes breaking up the bale and applying the broken bale to a fluffer or shredder (18) to form a fluffed or shredded waste paper product containing heavy and light contaminants. This product is applied to an air separator (20) from which heavier non-paper contaminant fraction is removed, and the remaining product is applied to the inlet of a vortex separator (30) which removes a light reject fraction and forms a second accepts fraction. The second accepts fraction is water soaked and applied to the inlet of a series of drum-type pulpers (55). The invention further includes a drum-type pulper (60) in which an axial shaft has radially-extending buckets (100) which dip into a pool of waste paper stock in which the buckets sweep the interior of the drum, lift a quantity of the stock from the pool, and allow the stock to drop back into the pool. Vanes (130) on the buckets cause the stock to move axially in the drum from an inlet (80) at one end to an outlet (82) at the opposite end.
