    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a workpiece carrier having a central opening, quickly and simply installable in various chuck members in different positions, and capable of accurately defining and fully knowing an actual position. SOLUTION: This workpiece carrier has two reference systems to be accurately positioned on a chuck member. The workpiece carrier has the central opening. The two opposed ends of this opening are respectively surrounded by the reference systems. A means for fixing and/or positioning a workpiece is arranged inside the central opening. The two reference systems are mutually independent, and can install the worpkpiece carrier in the chuck member in two different positions. A projection part surrounding the central opening and substantially extending in the central longitudinal axis direction of the workpiece, is assigned to the respective reference systems. This projection part has a shoulder part constituted so as to function as a clamp surface and engage with a clamp element arranged in the chuck member.     • A pistol grip casing (2) contains the two chucks (6 & 7) which are selectively positionable at their positions of use in front of the casing. A drive motor (31) is selectively connectable to the chuck at its position of use by the engagement of pinions (34 & 35) with whichever of the pinions (10 & 11) is mounted on the respective drive shafts (8 & 9) of the chuck at the position of use. Selection of the chuck (6 & 7) to be at the position of use is achieved by depressing a button (32) at the back of the casing (2) to move a drive shaft (30) of the motor (31) forwardly so that the pinions (34, 35, 10 & 11) disengage and a cog (18) at the other end of the motor drive shaft (30) engages the two cogs (16, 17) for rotating two parallel leadscrews (13, 14). Simultaneous rotation of the leadscrews (13, 14) causes the chucks (6 & 7) to be interchanged at the front of the casing (2). A solenoid (38) holds the button (32) depressed until sensors (39) detect the presence of the new chuck at its forward position in front of the casing (2).

    • A connector assembly for rotational tools including a boss adapted to hold a tool and having a plurality of connecting projections, typically shafts. The shafts rotationally engage a driving means and longitudinally engage a locking ring that locks the boss, driving means and the locking ring together. This is achieved by the driving means and the locking ring having co-axially aligned bores allowing for the insertion of the shafts. The locking ring is further rotatable between two positions in one engaging the shafts for longitudinal movement and in the other allowing for free longitudinal movement of the shafts. Such an arrangement allows a tool mounted on the boss to be easily and quickly mountable and demountable. The connector assembly can be further used for the connection of static devices without any rotational motion imparted thereto.
