A dual- chambered transfer mattress is also provided having a blind portal defined through a top inflatable mattress. Methods are provided for holding a patient for a period of time where the patient has had a medical fixture implanted in a body portion so that a portion of the medical fixture projects outwardly from the patient's body and is located within the portal the portal provides clearance for accommodating the medical fixture.

摘要： This invention is a patient transport system for transporting a patient from a bed (10) to a stretcher or vice versa, using a bed sheet (80) and a conveyor (40) attached to the bed (10) or the stretcher. A first end of the sheet (80) is removably attached to the conveyor (40) and a second end of the sheet (80) is free. The sheet (80) is adapted to be positioned onto the patient supporting member of the bed (10) or stretcher. The conveyor (40) includes a roller (42) received by bearings (44). The roller (42) can also include a telescopic arrangement so that ist length can be adjusted. A pawl and ratchet assembly can be provided on the conveyor (40) to prevent unwinding of the conveyor (40). The sheet (80) is removably attached to the roller (42) by adhesive tape or a clip arrangement (202). A flexible belt (206) attaches the clip (202) to the conveyor (40) and is removably secured to the roller (42). The clip (202) includes a body member (210) having a recess with a plug (212) received therein.

摘要： A soft-walled inflatable cradle (10) has a seat section (14), a back-support section (16), and a pair of opposed side panel sections (18, 20) extending between respective sides of the back-support and the seat. The cradle is positioned about a patient in an un-inflated condition and inflated to define a self-supporting seat structure. The cradle may be formed in at least two separable parts which can be positioned about a patient and connected together prior to inflation. The cradle may be used in co-operation with apparatus which include rollers over which the inflated cradle is moved. Methods of handling a patient using the cradle are also disclosed.
