摘要： An electrosurgical apparatus (10) for performing a cut or incision (C) on epithelial tissue of the body (B) of a human or animal patient. The apparatus comprises a generator system (12) configured to generate a radio-frequency electric signal, and a handpiece (14) to be held by an operator and comprising an end (16) provided with a single active electrode (18) electrically connected to said generator system (12). The electric signal is configured to generate a cut or an incision (C) when said active electrode (18) comes into contact with the epithelial tissue of the body (B). The electric signal has a power ranging from 0.5W and 20W and a frequency ranging from 40kHz and 90kHz. The same signal is configured in such a way that the energy emitted is transferred from the active electrode (18) to the tissue of the body (B) through capacitive coupling. The tissue is cut at a peripheral temperature ranging from 45°C to 60°C. The electric circuit is closed to ground through a capacitive effect, as the apparatus does not use a return plate.

摘要： Methods and devices for identifying a treatment site are disclosed. The methods may include engaging a plurality electrodes with plurality of locations on or adjacent an interior wall of a patient. The methods may also include generating a pacing stimulus through a first pair of the plurality of electrodes and measuring a resulting electrical activity. The methods may also include identifying at least one site for treatment based on the resulting electrical activity. The devices may include elements configured to perform these methods. The device comprises a plurality of electrodes; a memory device configured to store an instruction for evaluating electrical activity; and a processor configured to: access the instruction from the memory; direct, with the instruction, an electrical energy source to generate a pacing stimulus through a first pair of the plurality of electrodes; measure, with the instruction, a resulting electrical activity at one or more of the plurality of electrodes; and identify, with the instruction, at least one treatment site based the resulting electrical activity. The processor is further configured to initiate, with the instruction, a therapy to the least one treatment site, such as a radio frequency energy, an ultrasound energy, a laser energy, a cryoablation, a microwave ablation, a Botox injection, a neurolytic agent, an optical energy, an irreversible electroporation, and a hydrogel injection.

摘要： Tumors can be treated with an alternating electric field. The size of cells in the tumor is determined (1110) prior to the start of treatment and a treatment frequency is chosen (1120) based on the determined cell size. The cell size can be estimated during the course of treatment and the treatment frequency is adjusted to reflect changes in the cell size. A suitable apparatus for this purpose includes a device for measuring the tumor impedance, an AC signal generator with a controllable output frequency, a processor for estimating the size of tumor cells and setting the frequency of the AC signal generator based thereon and at least one pair of electrodes operatively connected to the AC signal generator such that an alternating electric field is applied to the tumor.
