    • A magnetic coupler (10) having various holding device embodiments (12, 12', 72, 84, 90, 100, 120, 130, 140, 152) to be quickly magnetically coupled and uncoupled with an industrial strength magnetic base (18) that is fixedly attached to a desired nonferrous surface (16), such as a dashboard of an automobile. The magnetic base includes a nonferrous low or soft durometer shell (20) that encases the superior magnetic coupling with a ferrous disk. If the device to be held is relatively heavy or has a high profile, the holding device/object to be held includes a support collar assembly (34, 34') that is fixedly attached to an external portion of the holding device. If the device to be held is light or has a low profile, a ferrous disk (30) having a surface area of not less than 1/10th the area of the surface area of the device surface to be magnetically coupled with the magnetic base is adhered to the device surface, unless the device has sufficient ferrous content to magnetically couple with the magnetic base. The holding device can be quickly coupled and uncoupled with the magnetic base in either the high profile or low profile embodiments. The high profile holding devices include a beverage cup holder (12, 1'), a clip (72), a clipboard (82), a paper/key/coin tray (100), an envelope holder (130), and a radar detector base (90). The lower profile holding devices to be held include a hand held computer (160), a calculator (164), a cellular phone (162), and an eyeglass holder (120).

    • The instant disclosure may provide a coaster that can be used with articles including fluid containers to mitigate and/or preclude undesired transmission of liquids by collecting condensation and dripped fluids and directing them to a contained reservoir within the coaster. An upper flange of the coaster may act as a unidirectional valve, directing fluid into the reservoir and preventing the escape of stored fluid even while the cup on which the coaster is mounted is tilted, as when tilted for drinking purposes. The coaster may be installed and removed with one hand, may move with the cup, and may provide improved cup-on-surface stability.

    • The invention relates to stackable coasters utilizing a tab (35, 36, 45, 46, 55, 56, 65, 66, 75, 76) and groove (43, 44, 53, 54, 63, 64, 73, 74, 83, 84) mechanism on its lower outside and upper inside side portions, respectively.
