    • An aqueous laundry prewash composition includes a cosurfactant system with a hydrophobic nonionic surfactant and a hydrophilic nonionic surfactant providing balanced detergency, a hydrotrope for stabilizing the cosurfactant system, a thickener and water forming the balance of the composition. A thickened aqueous laundry prewash composition is also disclosed including a surfactant system, water and a thickener being xanthan gum to develop a pourable product wherein shear caused by dispensing of the composition tends to reduce its viscosity. An aqueous laundry prewash composition thickened in a similar manner maintains in suspension an insoluble particle component to further enhance prewash characteristics.

    • Systems and methods for performing a self-test on a sensing device are described in the present disclosure. One implementation, among others, includes a method of performing a self test. In this implementation, the method includes supplying a periodic magnetic field upon a sensing element that is configured to sense a parameter of an object. The method further includes receiving an output from the sensing element indicating the operability of the sensing element. It should be noted that the output is received independently of the parameter of the object.

    • The invention provides an aqueous bleaching solution for substrate treatment comprising a source of oxidant and a suspended polymer matrix having a plurality of optically functional particles associated with one or more copolymers present in the polymer matrix. The plurality of optically functional particles are associated with the copolymer during polymerization of at least one hydrophobic and at least one hydrophilic monomer so as to form a polymer matrix useful to impart an aqueous bleaching solution with optically functional properties providing a benefit to the solutions during storage, use and application to substrates for treatment. In accordance with various embodiments of the invention, the suspended polymer matrix forms a substantially stable dispersion of the optically functional particles in the aqueous bleaching solution, and provides compositions, methods and kits for employing aqueous bleaching solutions having optically functional properties that are maintained over substantially long storage times.
