An optical disc apparatus for reliably detecting an address recorded on the optical disc utilizes the information recording surface with high density recording on the disc. The address data such as position information is recorded to the optical disc using a groove formed as the laser beam guiding groove. The groove is formed by modulating a signal formed by bi-phase modulating the address data.

A recording/reproducing apparatus for recording/reproducing data on/from a disk in which a sector is constituted by one arbitrary integer (F) of data frames, a cluster is constituted by another arbitrary integer (S) of the sectors, and data is recorded or reproduced in unit of the sector, or in unit of the cluster, is comprised of: reading means for reading a track number of an access point of the disk; storing means for storing a table about the track number and a zone, in which the following relationship is established, i.e., in two sets of the zones located adjacent to each other, data frame number of the zone per 1 rotation provided on an outer circumferential side of the disk is set to a value larger than data frame number of the zone per 1 rotation provided on an inner circumferential side of the disk by another arbitrary integer (K), the integer (K) being smaller than the integer (F); judging means for judging the zone belonging to the track number read by the reading means with reference to the table of the storing means; and generating means for generating a clock having a predetermined frequency in response to a judgment result the judging means.

摘要： The present invention is to realize a proper inner zone layout in an optical disk having at least three layers. A test area is provided in the inner zone (inner circumference side area) in each of recording layers. The test areas of each layer are so disposed as to be prevented from overlapping with each other in the layer direction. Furthermore, the number of management information recording/reproduction areas overlapping with the test area in the layer direction at a position closer to the laser-incident surface than this test area is set equal to or smaller than one in each test area of each recording layer. The management information recording/reproduction areas are each so disposed as to be prevented from overlapping with the test areas in the respective recording layers in the layer direction on the disk substrate side of the test areas.

The write-once recording medium is provided with an ordinary recording/reproduction area, an alternate area, a first alternate-address management information area (DMA) and a second alternate-address management information area (TDMA). In addition, written/unwritten state indication information (a space bitmap) is also recorded. The second alternate-address management information area is an area allowing alternate-address management information recorded therein to be renewed by adding alternate-address management information thereto. In addition, the written/unwritten state indication information indicates whether or not data has been recorded in each data unit (cluster) on the recording medium. Thus, it is possible to correctly execute management of defects and properly implement renewal of data in the write-once recording medium.

The track is wobbled for a series of predetermined signal units each composed of an FSK information bit part based on a waveform resulted from FSK modulation of information bit and a singe-frequency part based on a waveform of a single frequency. The FSK modulation uses two different frequencies of which the one is the same as the single frequency and the other is different from the single frequency. These different frequencies are in such a relation that each of them has an even number of wobbles and an odd number of wobbles alternately in a predetermined cycle.

摘要： An information recording and/or reproduction processing apparatus is provided. The information recording and/or reproduction processing apparatus is provided by which additional information such as copy protection information is recorded as encrypted data on an information recording medium and also a cryptographic key is recorded such that the difficulty in analysis thereof is promoted. Where additional information such as copy protection information is encrypted and recorded and also a cryptographic key for the encrypted additional information is recorded together, a seed is generated based on an error correction code set corresponding to the additional information. Then, a scrambling or bit position conversion process in which random numbers generated based on the seed are applied is executed for the cryptographic key data, and resulting cryptographic key data is recorded on an information recording medium. Upon such recording, the additional information is recorded as pit information while the cryptographic key data is recorded as wobble data. The cryptographic key has an increased difficulty in analysis and allows achievement of an efficient data reproduction process.
