摘要： An image display apparatus includes a current-controlled light emitting; a transistor which controls a first current flowing through the current-controlled light emitting diode, based on a first voltage applied between the gate and the source of the transistor at a light emitting phase; a capacitor arranged between the gate and the source. The image display apparatus also includes a current determining unit which controls a second current flowing between the source and the drain, based on a third voltage applied thereto at the writing phase. The second voltage is written in the capacitor at a writing phase and depends on the second current.

摘要： An image display apparatus includes a plurality of pixels. Each pixel includes a light emitting device; a drive transistor that has a gate electrode, a source electrode, and a drain electrode. One of the source and drain electrodes are electrically connected to one end of the light emitting device. Each pixel also includes a first switching transistor that electrically connects the gate electrode and the one electrode according to a scan signal, and a capacitor that has first and second electrodes. The first electrode is electrically connected to the gate electrode. The apparatus also includes a data line connected to the second electrode; a data line drive circuit that supplies a brightness potential and a reference potential for the brightness potential to the data line.

A capacitor is disposed between the gate electrode and a drain electrode when the light emitting element is in the on state emits light and when the light emitting element is in the off state, applying a voltage to the gate and the source of the driver element and a threshold voltage between the gate and drain electrodes is detected and stored in the capacitor, by writing a signal voltage closer to a potential which causes the driver element to turn off than the potential supplied to the gate electrode of the driver element when detecting a threshold value, the signal voltage being superimposed on the threshold voltage without losing the threshold voltage of the driver element.

The image display device also includes a threshold potential detecting unit that detects the potential difference; a luminance potential supplying unit that changes the potential difference to a value lower than the drive threshold by a luminance potential corresponding to a luminance of the light emitting unit; and a sweep potential supplying unit that controls the driving unit by supplying a sweep potential to the first terminal. The sweep potential is swept in a range between a value lower than the luminance potential and a value higher than the luminance potential.
