    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a root vegetable-harvesting machine which can surely dig and transfer root vegetables planted in a field and can cut off the leaves and stems of the root vegetables from their root portions during the transfer, while, if necessary, partially leaving the leaves and stems on the root portions. SOLUTION: This root vegetable-harvesting machine is obtained by forming the lifting and transferring device 15 of a harvest work portion B mounted on a self-propelled vehicle A from a device 15a for nipping and transferring the leaves and stems of the root vegetables and from a neck portion nipping and carrying device 15b disposed on the lower side of the device, and disposing a cutting device 17 above the neck portion-nipping and carrying device 15b. The cutting device 17 comprises a rotary blade facing a nipping and transferring route of the lifting and transferring device 15. The position of the rotary blade which is the cutting device 17 can vertically be adjusted between a place near to the lower side of the device 15a and a place near to the upper portion of the neck portion-nipping and carrying device 15b.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a self-traveling onion harvester having a reasonable constitution by installing a cutting device so as to cut and separate the stem and leaf part of a root vegetable lifted and conveyed as nipped and held by a stem and leaf part nipping and conveying device and a neck part nipping and conveying device, while leaving a necessary length of a stem and leaf part to the root part side thereof. SOLUTION: This self-traveling onion harvester is constituted by installing a stem and leaf part nipping and conveying device 15 as inclined in a rear upper direction, also a neck part nipping and conveying device 16 arranged in the lower direction of the stem and leaf nipping and conveying device and in a more gentle inclined angle than that of the stem and leaf nipping and conveying device and a cutting device 17 for cutting the stem and leaf part of the root vegetable at a suitable length at the final end of the conveyance of the neck part nipping and conveying device and at the upper directional part of the conveyance, cutting the stem and leaf part of the root part vegetable while being lifted and conveyed, with the cutting device, treating the cut stem and leaf part and the cut root part by conveying the cut stem and leaf part as lifted with the stem and leaf part nipping and conveying device successively and sending off the cut root part side with the neck part nipping and conveying device, and gradually separating the stem and leaf part of the root vegetable from the root part thereof in upper and lower directions for discharging them.

A guide member 28 capable of preventing the root crops from admitting into a space between both the nipping and conveying mechanism for the leaf and stem part and the guide mechanism is installed between the starting end of the guide mechanism and the lower side surface of the nipping and conveying mechanism for the leaf and stem part to provide the objective device for pulling up and conveying.

It is preferable that a space 54 is secured between the engine 12 and the knotter 30 to allow rootcrop bundles delivered from the bundling channel for the knotter 30 to fall therethrough.

    • PURPOSE: To provide an onion harvester, with no need of its posture-retaining device, simplified in the machine as a whole, capable of favorably dealing with the stems/leaves of rootcrop trimly, useful for carrot, etc., mounted with a conveyer to pull up and convey a rootcrop, a cutter to separate the stems/leaves from the crop, etc., at specified sites, respectively. CONSTITUTION: This onion harvester is so designed that a conveyer 26 is made up of an upper conveyer 24 to grip the site toward the tip of the stems/leaves 27a of a rootcrop and convey the crop and a lower conveyer 25 to grip the neck 27b of the crop and convey it while restraining it from upward movement, a knotter 30 is furnished by making a bundling channel communicate with the terminal end of the lower conveyer 25, and a cutter 31 is furnished above the knotter 30 and below the upper conveyer 24. It is preferable that the terminal end of the lower conveyer 25 is threadedly situated at the bundling channel for the knotter 30 and the door 38 of the knotter 30 is situated on the downstream side of said terminal end.
