    • PURPOSE: To provide effective engine brake properties as well as to restrain oil rising attended with decrease of intake passage pressure, by controlling a variable valve timing mechanism so that the intake air pressure may be between the lower limit intake air pressure and the upper limit intake air pressure when the internal combustion engine is judged to be in the decelerating state. CONSTITUTION: The lower limit intake air pressure to be taken as a lower limit value of the target region of intake air pressure in an intake passage 20 and the upper intake air pressure to be taken as an upper limit value are so set as to be decreased as the engine speed is increased. A variable valve timing mechanism (VVT) 50 is so controlled that the intake air pressure may be between the lower limit intake air pressure and the upper intake air pressure when an internal combustion engine 10 is judged to be in the decelerating state. Accordingly, the pressure in the intake passage 20 is not maintained in the considerable low state even when the intake air pressure in the intake passage 20 is decreased, and oil rising wherein engine oil is sucked into a combustion chamber 15 is restrained.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain stable intermediate rotational phase of a cam shaft by holding a ring gear in an intermediate position of a movable range with a smiple structure without using a hydraulic control valve. CONSTITUTION:Sliding portions with which a ring gear 11 can be slid are formed between a case 4 and the ring gear 11, in addition to between the ring gear 11 and a timing pulley 6. A back pressure escape passage 25 is formed, which passage 25 has an opening 25a that is blocked by the ring gear 11 when the ring gear 11 is moved to an intermediate position in a movable range. A first back pressure adjustment passage 26 is formed, which is opened on the portion of the sliding portion, at least on the side of a botton 16a of a back pressure chamber 16, compared to the opening 25a. A first governor valve 27 is provided on a cam shaft main body 2 in an integrally united manner. A valve body 33 of the first governor valve 27 is operated formreleasing the first back pressure adjustment passage 26 when an engine speed is lower than a first set value, and is moved by centrifugal force generated together with rotation of the cam shaft main body 2, for blocking the first back pressure adjustment passage 26.

    • PURPOSE:To improve precision of an intermediate rotational phase by way of stably holding a ring gear at an intermediate position as well as improving responsibility at the time of changing over a rotational phase by way of moving the ring gear from one end part of a moving range to the other end part in a short period of time. CONSTITUTION:On a camshaft 2 and others, an exhaust passage 24 to exhaust working oil 10 in a pressure chamber 12 to the side of an oil pan 15 is provided. The end part of the exhaust passage 24 on the side of the pressure chamber 12 is opened to face the intermediate position of a moving range of a ring gear 11. In the middle of the exhaust passage 24, a hydraulic control valve 25 is provided, and the hydraulic control valve 25 closes the exhaust passage 24 at the time when the ring gear 11 is displaced by the maximum amount by hydraulic pressure in the moving range and opens the exhaust passage 24 at the time when the ring gear 11 is displaced to the intermediate position of the moving range. On the hydraulic control valve 25, a variable restriction part is provided. The variable restriction part, when the exhaust passage 24 is opened by the hydraulic control valve 25, reduces the sectional area of a supply passage 13 smaller than the time when the exhaust passage 24 is closed.

    • PURPOSE:To enhance the durability of gears in a variable valve timing device of an internal-combustion engine and decrease the meshing noise to be generated therefrom by reducing the contact pressure in meshing of gears which couple together cam shafts and drive. CONSTITUTION:A variable valve timing device (VTT) 1 is split into a phase conversion part 9 to convert the rotational phase of a cam shaft 5 and a hydraulic type drive part 10 to drive the phase conversion part 9. The phase conversion part 9 is arranged capable of rotating in a single piece with the cam shaft 5, and the casing of the drive part 10 is provided on a cylinder head 3 non- rotatably. Through a bearing 26 a ring gear 13 of the phase conversion part 9 is coupled with an operational rod 24 of the drive part 10. A scissors gear 7 fixed to another cam shaft 6 is coupled with a scissors gear 8 constituting the phase conversion part 9 and is driven. Accordingly an inertia load in a portion corresponding to the phase conversion part 9 is solely applied to the cam shaft 5 when it is rotated, and the inertia load applied to the two scissors gears 7, 8 is reduced in a portion corresponding to the drive part.

Further, a flying speed detecting means 5 to detect the flying speed of an aircraft is provided, the target engine speed at low flying speed is corrected to be relatively higher than that at high flying speed by means of a target engine speed correcting means 6, according to the detected flying speed.

    • PURPOSE:To always properly control the pitch of a propeller by correcting a control signal on a difference in the computed number of revolutions of an engine during the steady flight state of an aircraft in which the pitch of the propeller is controlled on a difference between the number of revolutions of the engine and its target number of revolutions. CONSTITUTION:An engine speed detecting means 1 detects the number of revolutions of an engine to rotate a propeller, and a target engine speed setting means 2 sets the target number of revolutions of the engine on an output lever operating state. An engine speed difference computing means 3 computes a difference between the number of revolutions of the engine and its target number of revolutions, and a control signal sending means 4 sends a control signal to control the pitch of the propeller for making a pitch control mechanism 5 control the pitch. In this case, a steady flight state judging means 6 is provided, and when the flight state is fudged to be steady, a control signal value correcting means 7 corrects the value of the control signal basing on the above number of revolution difference. Thus the slippage of control quantity caused by a change with the passage of time in a hydraulic pressure actuator or the like can be corrected.

    • PURPOSE:To secure the optimum operation constantly by obtaining the most appropriate rotational speed of an engine under existing operating condition according to engine characteristics and variable pitch propeller characteristics, and determining necessary machine speed based on the propeller characteristics and the like when determining the rotational speed. CONSTITUTION:This controller are provided with a pitch angle detecting means 1, a rotational speed detecting means 2, an air density detecting means 3, an engine output detecting means 4, and an engine load detecting means 5. The detected pitch angle, engine rotational speed, air density, and engine output are inputted to obtain machine speed by the first determining means 6 based on the variable pitch propeller characteristics. Also, the machine speed, air density, and engine load are inputted to obtain the most appropriate rotational speed under prescribed conditions at the engine load by the second determining means 7 based on engine characteristics variable pitch propeller characteristics, thus controlling the pitch of the variable pitch propeller by a pitch control means 8 so that the detected rotational speed may become the most appropriate rotational speed.
