    • In a connector having a group of contacts arrayed at narrow pitches on a base member, a contact fixture device is formed separately from the base member forming a connector body. The contact fixture device is provided with retaining claws adapted to secure the fixture device to the base member. The contact fixture device is further provided with a presser portion disposed across a group of seat elements of the group of contacts. The presser portion is laid across the group of seat elements to urge the group of seat elements against a surface of the base member when the fixture device is secured to the base member with the retaining claws. In this manner, the group of contacts can be arrayed on the base member.

    • An IC carrier has a base and a cover pivotably attached to the base through a shaft coupling. One end of the cover is provided with a plurality of shafts forming the shaft coupling and arranged at spaced intervals. The base is provided with a short recess portion shorter than the length of the shaft and a recess portion equal to or longer than the length of the shafts. The short and long recess portions are spaced on one end of the base at an equal interval to the spacing of the shafts. One end of the recess portions is provided with a shaft receiving portion for receiving ends of the corresponding shaft. The cover can be bent in the thickness direction and the shafts can be inclined in accordance with the bending of the cover. The shaft corresponding to the long recess portion is inserted into the shaft receiving portion at one end of the recess portion via the recess portion, and the shaft corresponding to the short recess portion is inserted into the shaft receiving portion at one end of the short recess portion while the shafts are inclined due to the bending of the cover. The shafts are brought into full engagement in the recess portions by the motion of the cover as it is restored to its unbent condition.

    • A contact for insertion into a socket of an electric part and for receiving a terminal. The contact has a first elongated contact element and a second elongated contact element made of a resilient conductive material and disposed in spaced parallel relation, the elongated contact elements being interconnected at respective one ends thereof to form a contact terminal for insertion into a socket, and having at the other ends thereof respective first and second contact portions which are elongated transversely of the elongated contact elements and each extending toward the other elongated contact element, the first contact portion being further from the one ends in the direction of elongation of the elongated contact elements than the second contact portion and being in spaced opposed relation thereto and extending past the second contact portion in the direction of elongation of the first contact portion to form a pressure receiving part, the contact portions being positioned for being elastically displacable in a direction laterally of both the direction of elongation of elongated contact elements and the elongated contact portions without interfering with each other, whereby when a force is applied to the pressure receiving part in the lateral direction, the contact portions are separated in the lateral direction to form a terminal receiving opening therebetween into which a terminal can be inserted under no load, and upon release of the force, the contact portions move together to grip the terminal therebetween.
