    • The pressure gauge is designed for operative engagement with a gas pressurized system such as a pneumatic tire. It includes a housing having a pressurized gas inlet orifice and a cylindrical bore formed within the housing. A pressure reactive piston is slidably engaged within the cylindrical bore, and a resistance means is disposed within the cylinder to provide a resistive force to the movement of the piston. A calibration rod is disposed proximate the piston, whereby movement of the piston will cause movement of the rod. A pressure indicator bar, which is threadably engaged to the rod, provides an indication of the pressure level of the gas. The calibration rod has a user accessible end, and rotation of the rod causes a calibration adjustment of the pressure indicator bar due to the threaded engagement of the rod with the pressure indicator bar.

    • A digital watermarking process whereby an invisible watermark inserted into a host image is utilized to determine whether or not the image has been altered and, if so, where in the image such alteration occurred. The watermarking method includes the steps of providing a look-up table containing a plurality of coefficients and corresponding values; transforming the image into a plurality of blocks, wherein each block contains coefficients matching coefficients in the look-up table; and embedding the watermark in the image by performing the following substeps for at least some of the blocks: First, a coefficient is selected for insertion of a marking value representative of a corresponding portion of the watermark. Next, the value of the selected coefficient to used to identify a corresponding value in the look-up table. Finally, the identified coefficient is left unchanged if the corresponding value is the same as the marking value, and is changed if the corresponding value is different from the marking value. After the insertion of the watermark, the image may be stored in a lossy-compression form, thus permitting efficient storage and distribution. Moreover, the method may be used to produce two output signals for authentication: (1) a meaningful pattern to facilitate a quick visual check, and (2) an additional signal to detect unauthorized alteration. The method can be applied to an image compressed using JPEG or other techniques, such as Wavelet compression, and the marked image can be kept in the compressed format. Any alteration made on the marked image can be localized, making the method suitable for use in a “trustworthy” digital camera or camcorder.

    • Described is a technology by which blocks of web pages may be selected, such as for building a user-personalized web page containing selected blocks. A selection mechanism, such as a browser toolbar add-on, provides a user interface for selecting blocks, and records information about selected blocks. A block tracking mechanism (e.g., a daemon program) uses the information to locate selected blocks of the web pages, including when the web page containing the block is updated with respect to content and/or layout. The block tracking mechanism may update a local gadget that when invoked, such as by browsing to a particular web page, which shows updated versions of the block on a personalized web page. Blocks may be efficiently located by processing trees representing web pages into reduced trees, and then by performing a minimum distance mapping algorithm on the reduced trees.
