    • A vertical spindle duplex head for a grinder includes an annular pressure wheel and a receiver wheel arranged to rotate and revolve workpieces between the annular surfaces of the pressure wheel and the receiver wheel and a grindstone for one end portion of the workpieces driven in the opposite directions of rotation of the pressure wheel and receiver wheel and at their different rotational ratios. The workpieces rotate and revolve between these wheels, thereby grinding their end face by means of a grindstone arranged around the external periphery of a rotary carrier.The pressure wheel and receiver wheel are rotatably driven in opposite directions and at their different rotational speeds by distributing driving force from one source to each of them and a variable driving means is provided on one of the transmittance routes of the driving force extending from the place of distributing the driving force to both of the pressure wheel and the receiver wheel, whereby the rotational ratio of each of them can be optionally changed.

    • According to one embodiment, a semiconductor device includes a processor, and a memory device. The memory device has a nonvolatile semiconductor storage device and is configured to serve as a main memory for the processor. When the processor executes a plurality of programs, the processor manages pieces of information required to execute the programs as worksets for the respective programs, and creates tables, which hold relationships between pieces of information required for the respective worksets and addresses of the pieces of information in the memory device, for the respective worksets. The processor accesses to the memory device with reference to the corresponding tables for the respective worksets.

    • A plant controller includes a feedback controller configured to calculate a control input provided to a plant so that a control output of the plant matches a target value. The feedback controller includes a controller transfer function that is a transfer function of the feedback controller. The controller transfer function is expressed by a product of an inverse transfer function of a transfer function of a control target model obtained by modeling the plant and a disturbance sensitivity correlation function defined using a sensitivity function. The sensitivity function indicates sensitivity of a disturbance to be applied to the plant with respect to the control output. The sensitivity function is defined by using a response characteristic parameter that indicates a response characteristic of the plant.
