    • A pivotal ball joint assembly includes a ball joint, an input/output member, and a secondary seal element to prevent contamination of the boot seal during movement and articulation of the input/output member relative to the ball joint. The ball joint has a socket body and a ball stud pivotally mounted to the socket body. The ball stud has a shank portion which extends therefrom and is aligned along a shank axis. An elastic boot seal which extends between the ball stud and socket body is also included. The pivotal ball joint assembly also includes an input/output member affixed to the ball stud shank portion so that the socket body is able to freely rotate relative to the input/output shaft about the shank axis. The pivotal ball joint assembly is further rotatable through a limited range about a transverse axis perpendicular to the shank axis. The secondary seal element extends between the boot seal and the input/output member to guard the boot seal to shank portion interface against contamination during movement and articulation of the input/output member relative to the ball joint.

    • A system and method for determining a timing error of an incoming signal, in one embodiment, receives the incoming signal into a receiver, and locates a known portion within a time frame of the incoming signal. The known portion is compared with a stored representation of the known portion, and with a stored representation of a derivative of the known portion. The timing error of the incoming signal is determined with respect to the clock signal based on the comparing of the known portion with the stored representations, and a subsequent known portion is located within a subsequent time frame of the incoming signal based on the timing error.

    • One embodiment of the invention sets forth a graphics application configured to generate previews of a graphics object when a configurable parameter is modified. A computation engine computes the result of the modified parameter value and determines a set of additional parameter values based on configurable meta-data. The computation engine then computes results of each additional parameter value. Each computed result specifies a different change in the characteristic of the graphics object. The computation engine transmits the computed results to a preview generator, also included in the graphics application. For each computed result, the preview generator generates a preview of the graphics object that incorporates the change in the characteristic of the graphics object. The previews are transmitted to a preview pane for display. The user may then select one of the previews, and the parameter value of the configurable parameter is modified based on the selected preview.
