    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multifunctional admixture capable of simultaneously imparting a hydraulic cement composition with a plurality of desired high performances. SOLUTION: The multifunctional admixture comprises one or more products selected from the following: A reaction mixture obtained through the 1st step and the 2nd step described below and a partially or wholly neutralized product of the above reaction mixture obtained through the 3rd step described below. The 1st step comprises initiating a radical copolymerization reaction of a radical-polymerizable monomer mixture comprising maleic anhydride and a specific allyl ether monomer in a specified proportion in the presence of a non-aqueous radical polymerization initiator in a non-aqueous system. The 2nd step comprises stopping the radical copolymerization reaction by adding water to the reaction system midway of the reaction process with a polymerization conversion coming to 50-90% to obtain the reaction mixture comprising the resultant copolymer and the remaining monomers.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide aggregate for a hydraulic cement composition which practically uses blast furnace granulated slag or its particle size adjusted material and in which the blast furnace granulated slag is made to hardly agglomerate over a long period and to have water retention characteristics, so as to be suitable for preparing the hydraulic cement composition using it as the aggregate and to suppress the bleeding of the prepared hydraulic cement composition, and to provide the hydraulic cement composition. SOLUTION: The aggregate for the hydraulic cement composition obtained by mixing 0.002-0.3 pt.wt. water insoluble and high water absorptive acrylic cross-linked polymer having ≥60 mol% in total of a structural unit formed from acrylic acid and a structural unit formed from acrylic salt in the total structural unit with 100 pts.wt. blast furnace granulated slag or its particle size adjusted material is used.
